If you are a line holder you get LPA.

... for your tier. FO or CA no diff. The numbers are published in PBS for each group each month.

Could you please explain "grandfather rights"? Also, concerning pay protection, does someone who is currently pay protected have to bid base, equipment and seat or just equipment and seat in order to maintain pay protection?

Thank you!!!

Simply stated, those with grandfather rights will be awarded before pilots senior to them for a given vacancy. I won’t go any deeper here on that topic.

As to pay protection bidding requirements to maintain that status, I would need information on your personal status I won’t handle, nor should you provide, on this venue. Please PDR the union using the LOA 20-05 option or SSC Manpower. PDR.ALPA.org

A pilot has to have as first choice on his bid the base and seat he/she was displaced from in order for him/her to be pay protected .

when openings are available, he or she will be grandfather to their old position before any new and even senior pilot

Thank you, both.

Sort of. There may be 1 or 2 BES where it gets that low, but only with grandfathered guys. So while junior NB CA may end up being a 5 year, it isn’t actually available to be bid by anyone of that seniority, as of yet. Most junior non-grandfathered NB CAs I’m seeing are around mid 8,xxx seniority. (Maybe someone can put a number on that- closer to 10 years+?)

I don't think it has to be your first choice if you have a higher paying position above it.

I can’t hold captain anywhere based on today’s snapshot, with over 13 years of seniority. I’m not really even very close - hundreds of numbers away. I don’t have any grandfather rights - my BES closed so I have nothing to
go back to.

The million dollar question is, could you have held captain prior to the slow down?
