Youre not really disagreeing with my argument. I said most people would agree that a private business can dictate what rules their customers or employees should follow. It sounds like we’re in agreement here.

Gotcha. So, it sounds like we’re in agreement United can mandate a vaccine. What I was really referencing was the point you were trying to make that government can’t limit anything that is not in the constitution?

Based on history I don’t think it’s right that they mandate a vaccine, but at the same time if it’s legal then I guess that’s their prerogative.

My argument is that some of you seem perfectly fine with letting the government do whatever it feels like since the constitution allows it. That just sounds insane to me. You guys are ok with it now because it fits your narrative. Nothing to this magnitude has ever happened before. This sets a precedent. What happens next time when the government takes a power grab for something you don’t agree with?

Take a look Jacobson v. Massachusetts. Government has had the authority to mandate vaccines for over a hundred years.

Certainly assembly. You could also argue free speech since they are trying to censor people that disagree with the official government position.

So based on that standard should we ban driving to save lives? Prohibit smoking? Sugary drinks? Fatty foods? Power tools because people get hurt or killed?

Like Demolition Man, anything not good is bad, and therefore illegal?

I don’t think we should, but to not be a hypocrite, anyone who advocates for a separate society based on Covid or thinks anyone is a murderer for not getting vaccinated even though children are at least twice as likely to die from flu, and who advocates for masks in school, but not during flu season for the rest of eternity…. Then yes.

So based on that standard are we allowed to have any laws? Isn’t society always balancing the needs of the many with the rights of the few? From the Jacobson v. Massachusetts opinion:

“But the liberty secured by the Constitution of the United States to every person within its jurisdiction does not import an absolute right in each person to be, at all times and in all circumstances, wholly freed from restraint. There are manifold restraints to which every person is necessarily subject for the common good.”
