Yes, there's two things at play here... The company/FAA rules in the FOM (1000 hours, etc.) and what the UPA stipulates (500 hours/off probation). I'm not sure whether the system takes the UPA parameters into account or not. Surely a strange discussion either way.

there is a chart that covers waivers to the 1000 hour rule… prior military, regional PIC time, etc. if you don’t meet the waiver then you need 1000 hours.

I know... you have to read the thread to follow the discussion. It started with someone who had a question as to why a bid wasn't showing up on the snapshot when they were qualified in some manner.

Sincere apologies for being “that guy”…
I’m OAL, wondering how junior each base and equipment is going right now? Or where most new hires are going?

Nothing like the union limiting the mobility of their own dues paying membership

Seriously if you’re fairly new to the company the last thing you want to do is take a shot at the Union. About a year ago, 30% at the bottom were looking at getting furloughed but kept their job because of the Union, and now guys are getting to their dream job with the possibility to upgrade in less than two years at a Legacy. Be grateful to be in your current position.

EXACTLY!!! Street captains here, or even pilots who haven’t been here a year is kinda risky to be a captain here. They haven’t really experienced the operation yet. Plenty of time to upgrade!!!

I recall this being a LOA or MOU from the 2017 era that’s made it into a rewrite. I only remember it because I was flying with a union guy at the time that indicated they (the union or the company - I don’t remember which) didn’t like the idea of a new hire getting on the list, disappearing on MIL leave for x years, then coming back and immediately taking an upgrade.

A thank you to ALPA would have been better than the statement above
ALPA creates jobs and upgrades and that is a fact
you are excused if you never worked under ALPA before
