Impossible to guess.. Reserve traditionally gets overlooked and bypassed in United contracts.

I honestly don’t think reserve is that bad, the aggressive pick up schedule makes it more manageable. Living in base is key as always

The people who live in those bases have already bid those positions. No one wants to commute to reserve — especially with capricious schedule changes permitted by UPA. Company wants to fill ‘em, they can figure out how to incentivize it.

agreed, the company has to make it worth while to the commuters on reserve. Other wise places like SFO, and EWR will have this problem while this kind of hiring is happening.

I don’t see how this is a big problem for the company. They tweak and add slots in IAH, DEN etc and they’ll be filled. Plenty of trips have always had layovers in other hubs in the past. Why would that stop? In the mean time nice opportunities for all.

depends how many open captain slots. There’s a point where it will be a problem… especially if the staffing model is dependent on reserves sitting hot

you can come in with 1000 SIC and they credit you 500. So you need 500 more to be included in the captain bids.

Hopefully it works that seemlessly for those that need it. Crazy to think this is even an issue. Even crazier to thing that most of the hires from the flight training academy are now in the 1000+ hour mark, so they meet the requirements to bid CA.
