Two $20 haircuts/month gets about $500 year. That's better than nothing (unless you think that what you negotiate has ancillary costs to the company ie FA, which would hurt your bargaining position.... less bang for the buck)

so we (in theory) don’t look like slobs.

I think the concept is same as IRS deductibility (before the recent changes). If your clothing is only useful for your job, you could deduct it. Pilots uniform, hard hat, bullet proof vest, steel toed shoes are. Suit coat, jeans, tennis shoes are not, because you can wear them elsewhere. Taking a shower, shaving, having a haircut are not, because you would do them for non-work related. Yes, there are some grey areas, but that is the basic philosophy.

I had my wife’s stylist cut my hair while I was waiting for her hair processing. $90!😳

Thanks...very reasonable explanation.Might not be worth the squeeze, but since you already have the FOM that mandates hair grooming standards, it might be logical to push for haircut reimbursement/stipend to complement the uniform cleaning. Already got the camels nose under the tent

Why am I even weighing in? Why of course, pattern bargaining. Good shiznit for UAL pilots hopefully equates into good or better shiznit for DAL pilots🤑

This is why my wife cuts mine. It helps that there is not much left to cut these days though.

bad idea. If they pay for it, they’d expect us to answer it at any time. No thanks.

While my wife wasn’t a stylist before I met her/married her (important note regarding crazy hot matrix), she became one and owned a few salons. I can now relate to the extreme savings for well over a decade. Maybe she can become an accountant, electrician, plumber and HVAC-R technician for further savings as I create more problems that the professionals must fix later. Turbo Tax has helped, but still adds up.

Agree - $25-$100 a visit can get pretty steep. Don’t add it all up or you will be searching for a “FLOWBEE.”

HA! When was the last time a pilot paid for shampoo/soap. I guarantee any pilot's house is loaded with hotel shampoo/soaps.
