If he had any integrity or self-respect he wouldn’t leave it to someone else to hold him accountable, he’d do it on his own immediately. He better crawl back into the dark hole cesspool of hell with the rest of these demons who would sacrifice their own brethren for personal gain and never show his face again. He doesnt get a pass! He would have happily seen this come to pass if the membership had been asleep at the wheel. He only got cold feet after the ensuing uproar.

There is only one honorable way out…

You aren’t recalling MEC, Yes voting LEC, and firing NC while getting a better deal in next 6-18 months.
But let’s give a pass to a guy who caved to nasty emails and social media hate? You want to throw them all out, start with the dude with zero awareness of his LEC and ZERO spine.

I’m saying this CA publicly put out that he screwed up and is trying to make it right. He’s not out there every day playing used car salesman like the NC and Brad are and doubling down on this TA. So yes I think people screw up and when they own it sometimes they deserve a second chance. I may be in the minority and I’m as firm a No voter as you’ll find, but I still think second chances can be earned. I don’t care if it take 6-18 months. Our current contract is light years ahead on QOL/QOWL and I’d rather have it than the TA. If he believes what he wrote then he’s actually an asset to the pilots of C11.

Just my humble opinion.

I’ll put on my flame suit now lol

Regardless if these people who were for it previously, suddenly "see the light" and want to be forgiven, they need to be recalled. They have already demonstrated poor judgment and are not the type of people we want influencing our careers. They might be good people but I don't want them negotiating on our behalf. I'd rather have a jerk with our best interests in mind in office than a nice person who makes poor decisions.

Just my opinion on the matter.

The question of course is, did the man see the light? Or merely feel the heat? It would seem like doing the job with due diligence would have precluded ANY of these people from voting for this proposal, so at a minimum you would have to say the individual was inept. Which then begs the question: Do you want someone inept representing you?

We are culturally hard-wired to want to support someone who has ‘learned the error of their ways’ but what if they are merely inept? Is that a risk that is acceptable?

Jim is a good guy. For him to write that letter isn’t easy and reflects the person he is. For those who think he’s trying to save his hide I seriously doubt that. He’s not an ALPA political lifer.

Relatively new hire and first contract here.

This seems like one complete s show. Is this pretty standard ops with new TAs or is APF not an accurate representation?

He can be a good guy and an inept negotiator. That certainly isn’t mutually exclusive. I have a good friend who is a wonderful person but a truly $hitty poker player. He just can’t read the other players. And this is a darn high stakes game.

Sometimes you need to bring your best…

This is as bad a TA I’ve seen since UAL went through bankruptcy. So no this isn’t normal. But this is also the first time in my time here that we weren’t polled and the negotiators were just winging it for almost 4 yrs

Some of both. The extremism, hyperbole, and general craziness is dialed to 12 here. After a while you'll get a feel who the rational, normal people are on the forum.

That being said,, this is the first TA in my 25+ years that has received this level of opposition. My normal IRL friends that are very even keeled and reasonable are universally opposed to the TA.

Take what you need from forums like this but don't go in too deep...
