Simply needs to step down. Any union rep that supports replacing union member jobs with non members should be kicked out of the union entirely but unfortunately ALPA won’t have the guts to call this out for what it is. Jobs were promised here to get this huge item. This passes and 400 union jobs will be gone in 5-8 years.
Who was the other to cave?

Being a rep isn’t that good of a job. You are a line pilot who gets trip drops for union and LEC meetings. That’s it. Ever notice how only a few people run each cycle? It’s because it’s a thankless job that demands a lot out of you, especially on days off. If it was an amazing job, with full time trip loss pay, there’d be 30 people running each cycle.

I think this email is more powerful than an original “NO” vote at the MEC. Most pilots aren’t on the forums, but all pilots do get union emails. This will force pilots to take a closer look at the agreement; the people who saw this overwhelmingly passed at the MEC and base their vote on that.

“It must have been a good deal. Oh, wait. Lots of pilots aren’t happy? Hmm, let me take a closer look.”
No matter how good or how bad this T/A is either way as soon as a union rep saw that union jobs could be replaced with non union workers…INSTANT NO!! Period! He failed and failed miserably along with 14 others.

Completely agree. The scope gives are what caused me to dig further into the actual agreement.

I’m very disappointed the United MEC voted on a TA that includes scope erosion. I thought we learned our lesson 20 years ago.

It is a little late to pull back. We trusted him to educate himself on the proposed TA and decide to send it out for MR or not. He didn't look at it objectively or maybe he has lost touch with the line pilot but either one is unforgivable. Time to go fly planes for awhile. Make a mea culpa and resign and maybe run again in a few years once we shoot this turd down.

The townhalls are bordering on offensive. They keep talking like politicians and "we don't believe that to be true". If we were properly staffed, scheduling cared about line pilots QOL, and people were willing to move into positions that put them on reserve their opinions might be true but that isnt how we operate. They said this TA doesn't fix the unfilled captain vacancies or widebody vacancies but "they believe" reserves won't be used for 6 am departures on day one because there will be more reserves than scheduling knows what to do with? The company has been burning through reserves in every base using EVERY reserve EVERY day in some bases for years. 4 or 5 days off a month for commuters just evaporated because two subject matter "experts" don't want to admit a huge foul up. They are living in some fairy tale where the company is going to staff the airline and reserves will be sitting at home. It is a disgusting show of incompetence.

On top of that in the town hall concerning the LCA pay per leg instead of current book for entire trip, they said the company doesn’t have the technology in place to pay only per leg. And as a result would continue to pay the entire trip. That’s how they sold that!! LOL. These guys seriously have no clue and are naive, flat out dumb or know the truth and will do anything to sell this turd. The town halls have been embarrassing.

It sounds like they're negotiating on behalf of the company and not the pilot group. The TA, the pitch, the hard sells - what are they getting out of it? Nice high paying job around the corner?

As you say, Jim was vehemently opposed to the PRA LOA.
I stand corrected:

1) The 94.5 was for Insler and friends only. Plus the $2000 a month.

2) He did oppose Insler on many occasions.

3) So your guy had the stones to vote against PRA2020 in the face of 4000+ furloughs, but didn’t have the constitution to vote NO (ALL CAPS) on UPA2022 with no “danger” whatsoever and record Q2 results just around the corner? Then, after taking a nut shot, does a 180 and says he fooked up?

Hahahaha. That’s actually WORSE (ALL CAPS) than just being a MEC sycophant who votes YES (ALL CAPS) on everything.

REJECT AND RECALL

Jeff Brown was already management once. Will be again…
Just another group of TS, JM, BK, DZ, SP, and RM types.

Guy does the right thing, gets roasted.

save your misplaced ire for the rest of the lot that haven’t realized or admitted their mistake.
