Legitimate question. So, how many folks have been called for an interview belonging to one of the DEI groups vs those that don't?

Thats a question that only someone from the company who actually tracks that can answer, but a ton of white males are still being hired and still make up the majority of new hire class photos if that’s your concern… same as all the other airlines in the US.

In my interview group there were five of us. Four white males (all late 30’s at the youngest and older) and one white female (probably the young side of mid-30s). All very well qualified and seemingly good people. There weren’t any 2000 hour wonder kids or obvious “DEI interviewees”. This was just this spring.

I also have a friend who is “of color” who’s a great pilot and an even better human being who interviewed and got the TBNT not too long ago. As well as a Hispanic acquaintance that got the TBNT.

I don’t deny that UAL is trying to be a bit more diverse in their hiring, but from my limited personal experience the “hiring for skin color/reproductive plumbing, not qualifications” cries are blown a bit out of proportion.

I feel like I always struggle to answer that question in the applications. I'm from Argentina but I'm as white as it gets(European ancestry). Fluent in English and Spanish. Definitely not a visible minority. Am I considered Latino/Hispanic??

I’d say you’re a white hispanic. Where it gets weird are tan hispanics. Not white, not black. Where do they fall? Lol

Hello all. Got my interview soon, have a quick question. I logged into my application and says my app is in review, and cannot update the app except some of my personal info, but allowed me to update flight time, which I did. Should I not be doing this? Little too late since I did it. But just want to make sure I'm in the clear. Thanks

Should be fine if it’s within reason. Adding hours should be fine, taking away a ton of time especially stuff like TPIC (I.e. something that makes your application more attractive) will be questioned. Small fixes are acceptable.

Thanks! All I did was add more time to the aircraft I’m currently flying.

No problem, don’t overthink the process, I know that’s easy to say and hard to do!

Also something to keep in mind - if/when you get the interview invite, they will send you an addendum to fill out where you’ll put your updated flight time for the interview.

At this point your app is “pulled”. You’re not hurting anything by continuing to update your time, but you’re not really benefiting yourself either. Your app has already met the criteria to be eligible for an interview. As long as there’s nothing negative on your application that would cause them to pass it over, expect the hogan in your email within the next week.

I have an interview in a few weeks, so I have the addendum form. The app let me update flight hours so I figured I’d just have it as accurate as possible, but I won’t be touching it anymore. Thanks for the input!
