Have you ever held a full-time Union position?

Believe me, it can and often is. That said, would you be willing to work 24/7/365 and then go fly trips on your (non-existent) days off from Union work just to appease some keyboard commando who has too much time on his/her hands? (I didn't think so.)

It's odd how the people who ***** the loudest about full-time Union gigs are the ones who've never been stuck with one.

I've had multiple ones at the same time while flying a full schedule with minimal trip drops. Not all, but a number of Toddlers abused the FTFPL deal in a big way, period.

By definition, those aren't full-time Union positions.

You're right when I was a spokesperson for the UAL MEC it wasn't, but it has been for the last seven years. When I was a MEC Comm Committee member it wasn't, but for the last seven years it was. I was also the MEC Picketing Coordinator and C12 Strike Chairman concurrently with those other jobs and I flew a full schedule.

The definition of what full-time and what warranted an ALPA vacation day changed dramatically seven years ago.

Maybe Union jobs shouldn’t pay based log of flight pay….since there IS no flying. Maybe it should just be a flat salary.

That's what it is now; XX number of hours* times your current (not best held, as many seem to believe) flight pay rate.

*The pitchfork crowd says it's 94.5 but I've never bothered to look it up.

Nobody is “stuck” with any union job. It’s all volunteer. And if you’re not going to do the job right then don’t volunteer for it.

Many guys and gals volunteer and bust their asses and make magic happen. Then there are those that volunteer and protect the company and bring us concessions. Those are the ones people are complaining about. And rightfully so.
