As long as that doesn’t occur….there’s no reason to think a low time hire can’t hone the skills and procedures in the training environment. We need diversity…but we also need unity AMONGST that diversity. Having cliques of different demographics doesn’t help the cause. Not at the airline….not in this country.
Agree. In this hiring environment, DEI is not costing someone else an opportunity.

No idea why it caused you heart burn because NH classes before this hiring environment were still dominated by white male with minorities and women being the minority…..There were a lot of women and minorities in the same boat as you having difficulty getting interviews….

It's an easy target that's why. This profession is still around 90% male and white yet you'll always hear lame excuses like this.

It’s obvious pilots pilots of non minority/male status have also have their share crashes and mishaps with perfect records right…..

Atlas 3591 was a breakdown in the PRIA system and a carrier at the time desperate for bodies in the flight deck at the time and no body in the training department speaking up washing the guy out…..

But if you want to point crashes that involves folks of non-minority/ or male status. The numbers will not support your stance…..

Mods, this thread needs to die….
With all due respect I think you are advocating for my point of view. For example, AA1420 had two military pilots in the cockpit.

Are you aware of the bias in hiring military pilots 20, 30 and 40 years ago? Are you aware how many outstanding civilian pilots were passed up while military pilots with chinks in their armor were hired?

I’m unaware of people being discriminatory in this thread, or advocating one group is better than another. I think the argument is being made that unfortunately politics that are unrelated to safety are a fundamental aspect to our profession, that politics have been embedded in our career since the Wright Brothers and this has hindered the development of our careers and the industry as a whole.

Politics change with the wind, but the bias in hiring pilots continues…instead of focusing on safety factors, in some cases irrelevant reasons to hire and retain pilots are justified for the sake of things that are not safety related. Military, nepotism, gender and race are just some of the examples. It isn’t about racism, sexism or another other -ism, it’s about the imperfection and bias of human beings, how perhaps when a company says safety is #1 that in reality that may not be true.

so we're not allowed to discuss anything controversial on here because it apparently hurts your feelings?you do have a choice to look away but instead you chose to post. why if you're so offended? so far I see nothing but reasonable comments on bot sides. even though I may not agree with many folks on here I think they present great arguments..

This is a wild run! How many pages from an initial post questioning peoples allegiance to whatever based on the board being a certain color or not. You all are looking for politicized fights and grasping at straws.

Heres the count:

✔️18 points/infractions handed out
✔️Two 3 day bans
✔7+ comments deleted
✔️6 political/unfair moderation complaints against me
✔️15 pages

Not bad 👏

Disclaimer: estimates only. I did not actually count anything. actual numbers may differ wildly either to the upside or downside. counts do not include PMs and inadequate moderation attempts on my part
