How is UA awful right now? Just wondering how it’s changed since I went out on LTD in December and will hopefully be back this summer.

What DEN and now LAS is to UAL is what PHX is to AA. A once great area being destroyed by Californians.
Not really that debatable, but best to worse for available Hubs to drive to work. AA, UAL, then DAL. But one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. I’ve learned that from flying with Delta CA’s who claim Detroit is a great place to live.

I’d say just about every one of AA’s bases is desirable. I’d personally only leave out ORD, but that’s only my own personal opinion (still a good base objectively speaking). Personally, EWR/PHL are the bases I care about comparing long term. But I would be totally up to go live in Charlotte or Miami for 3-5 years before having a family for something different.

Did AA hit peak retirements yet or is that 24/25 time frame? I know you move up faster at AA right now. UA peaks in 2028. May help seniority progression if a higher percentage of pilots retire by say 2030 at UA. A counter to that is UA has been hiring like crazy since April/May 2021.

CLT is a nice area, DFW has plenty of activities, MIA for the beach life with a second home, and BOS.

XLT the city is terrible. Some far outreaches are nice, but clt is horrible.

You obviously haven't been here very long. This place with work rules and no contract for 4 years is a complete joke. A fraction of what it used to . New guys drooling over themselves because they got hired at a time that anybody with a pulse could get hired and seniority progression has been unheard of. Management treats us like a step or 2 under most regionals and laughs all the way to the bank.

what major cities that have airline hubs are nice these days? All my overnights are filled with homeless zombies walking around stoned.

Even if United grows a few thousand pilots it’s not close unless American shrunk their seniority list from 15,000.
And yeah your counter is correct UAL has hired over 4,000 pilots since the beginning of 2022.
