Also, how hard is it for them to wait to disconnect it until the packs are running? You can hear it loud and clear.
Hearing through the grapevine that the PC Air/APU at the same time restriction is going away soon.

Your alleged anecdotal experience is uninformed/uninspired. But this is the internet, and after all, you could be a pilot wife or flight attendant, fanboy/girl, retiree, or even a mechanic (although I'd wager a mechanic would, at the very least, strongly question the illogical process of powering air conditioning packs with hotly compressed air that is only treated to restrict moisture on its way directly to the engine(s)).
And what sort of air due you think is supplied to the packs while the engines are running?

I don't know this company's reasoning but having run packs elsewhere off a start cart once or twice it works swell until the exhaust from the cart gets pumped right into the cabin, which seemed common. There have got to be significant noise, wear and tear and other reasons it isn't done also.

Did A320 left seat to 737 left seat, easy enough transition. Having previous CRJ/ERJ 50 seater time helps

Congrats on United. I'm sorry to hear all that's been going on at NK, but I'm glad you got United as a NJ guy. +1

Thanks! Silver lining. NK falling apart allowed me to pursue (cheesy I know) the “Dream” of flying for United where previously I would have felt guilty putting my family in the position of me being junior again etc. this time it was killing two birds with one stone . 👍🏻

There is no FM or FOM restriction about doing this… on an Airbus. External pneumatic air is a permitted source of air to run the air conditioning packs.

If you watch the video from a couple of weeks ago where B. Mack goes over all the revisions in the latest FM for the 737 fleet, he explains why we don't run packs and PCA concurrently and according to him it comes directly from Boeing. I don't believe it is going away anytime soon after hearing his explanation, but that is just my opinion.

It was a JetBlue A320 and I had zero say in the situation I was riding in the back. The PCA air was broken on the jetbrige and they didn’t have a mobile cart. It was summer in FL. Captain made a gate PA explaining what was going on. It was incredibly loud on the jetbridge. But the plane was somewhat cool. Better than a regular working max 9. Hence my comment.

Elegant, if fruitless attempt to redirect the conversation anywhere near the actual thread topic.
