I'd say that's a hyperbolic description of what they're saying. Your interpretation says more about you than about ALPA comms. You use a lot of judgement words there... Do you think I have a salary? Do you think my BES and hourly pay rate are because I'm 'fortunate'? And you're just a poor, misunderstood sa sack being held back due to some misfortune? And who said anything about a dire need?

I guess you're voting based on emotion and the feeling of being aggrieved? Don't worry though, all of your misfortune will fade with time (AKA seniority).

People with a boner for PRAP cash should probably reread our contract. When the CBP is finalized there is no PRAP cash. That was added as a stopgap until the CBP is implemented, and then disappears. It’s either PRAP, RHA, or CBP.

Even as an option now I believe it isn’t available until you are at a very high income level and then also add $10k to the RHA first.

Exactly when it's finalized like our contract says and we have a choice where our money goes. BTW if YOU read, you'll notice we don't even pay dues on PRAP cash for 2025 going forward until the CBP is fully implemented. I want what our contract states. That PRAP spill will go into our RHA (we already caved for those who feel they have too much RHA money with the PRAP cash but now they want all of our RHA monies gone for 2 more years), UNTIL the CBP is approved and in place.

No matter how you attempt to spin it, this is a rush job to get a CBP going that is not in the best interest of the entire pilot group and affects a great many people's financial planning. That's why we're voting. The MEC views it as a material change to the contract requiring membership ratification.

Funny that you can't see the irony in your post being pure emotion and no insights given. I'm voting mainly for the reason I want to control how my money is disbursed and invested. My family also sees about 7000 in healthcare premiums a year which the RHA reimburses me for that I don't want shut off. I said salary to simplify, instead of LPV/MPG + add pay + per diem, not sure why that matters.
My first statement on only a limited number of pilots being affected is a direct quote from ALPA. My second statement is based on the 26 million in tax ALPA says can be saved by senior pilots, that's still going to be taxed at some point. Why would they even put that in if the insinuation wasn't we all need to give a little to help those at the top save more in taxes? We'll see what happens next week with this.

They bring up many of the issues I've brought up. Brought to you buy financial planners who are pilots but non united so it's an outsiders view.

Some of the items they bring up don't seem like they have a total grasp of the program because they're Fedex, or is it they'll be managing less money?

Try this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJINo8GtA5Y ...a United pilot that gives you the pros and cons of each without telling you how to vote. They even post investment info without a fee - online.

If someone has other investment advisors that have posted videos, post em!

Just watched it. He admits it's an attempt to get it going early vs letting the process play out. That's the entire issue. Do we want control of our money while the IRS rules on this or do we want to give the company control of more of our money in the meantime? I'll keep status quo and wait so I can plan appropriately when we have a final determination. But we all have a vote.

yes, the annual compensation limit is a cap. The contributions to the PRAP are not capped by a law.

59.5k itself is not a cap stipulated in any IRS code.

pedantic. The $350000 compensation cap results in a (x 17%) limit of $59.5k. Capped by IRS code and CBA.

Neither you nor your employer can put more in your PRAP than $69k (plus catch up) this year.

You obviously didn’t read the whole exchange. People keep referring to 59.5 as an IRS limit. It is not. The difference is important to understand particularly when negotiating pay rates vs DC rates.
