Has anyone ever flown with this guy?

Agreed. I’ve never done it , at the regionals or here and I never will. It’s ridiculous. Galley PAs and idiot pilots on social media, trying to impress people with the “ day in the life of a xxx pilot “ crap will both be the ruin of this once highly respected profession. They are doing their best to make us look like idiots .

sadly the company gave the green light for this clownish behavior in the PPD spectacle
also, pilot influencers… please stop. There is nothing you can post that hasn’t been already. The masses see it as entertainment, scroll and forget.
More importantly you lose the respect of your fellow professionals.

some hat wearer, probably also part of the over 55 crowd too if you know what I mean.
You got it.
He looked and sounded like the kind of person you'd see shopping at Costco.
Maybe unions and airlines are starting to crack down on this tomfoolery. Or maybe pilot groups are finally forcing these people to "self correct" (justified bullying).
There is a one of these types over at aa called captain steeeeeve or something that recently took down a ton of his videos that were ultra cringe.

Careful what you wish for! All you need to do is read the "Air 21" transcripts from some of our dealings at DL in order to be scared away from such a concept, at least with the standard you suggest as a trigger. Sadly I didn't get to see the clip before it got taken down - maybe I'd feel differently if I'd seen it.

PPD emboldens this. Zero tact or public speaking ability and yet the company wants gate announcements knowing the only people entertaining that idea are the biggest buffoons among us. Out of shape, out of uniform, and telling dad jokes… perfect!

When I was a captain, I’d make succinct announcements of relevant info only. (and always from the flight deck)
You can be warm and welcoming without unprofessionalism. I always knew that odds were, someone on that flight was on their way to see their dying mom/dad/kid, or was terrified of flying and didn’t want their pilot sounding as if this was a big joke.
