Well I guess you made the right call, then!

I was merely trying to say that 13800……………isn’t really surprising so I m not sure if Friendly was reacting that it was really junior…..clearly someone at that seniority is well beyond being a new hire.

Default Senior FOs making a QOL sacrifice??

Congratulations to all the senior first officers transitioning to regional flying with crappy overnights and a 2 year seat lock. I hadn't realize they would make a QOL sacrifice for a Captain Upgrade.

Well……less work and more money and not having to adapt to a PITA CA sure seems like a higher QOL. And being a CA is a significantly easier job than being an F/O. Especially on the godforsaken 737

It would probably be a huge benefit to the pilot group (and company) if more of our senior F/Os were the ones taking NB CA upgrades. We have spent far too much negotiating capital trying to disincentivize it.

what? Hmm trading, Europe and Asia for 3 legs to CID. Look I want access to all the nice WB FO trips too but I don’t want to be booted out or left out of negotiations when I’m able to hold them.

We could use more experience going to the left seat also…we have enough one year wonders.

Been on the 737 for over 18 years with 13.5 of those as an FO. How is being a 737 FO hard? That’s not being condescending or out of touch since I flew in that seat a long time. The only “hard” part of being the FO was adapting to the various captains and sometimes a captain’s multiple personalities within a day or even a flight. But, I would argue, that is true on every fleet.

Each seat has its own challenges and being a captain involves a lot more management and coordination of many more personnel and departments. I’d peg NBCA just a fraction “harder” than being an FO…and I find being a captain EASY.
