What to do about Contract Violation

Actually, as an IAH based XJT pilot who commutes on CAL every week, there were lots of grumblings about that. From my understanding, the CAL MEC did look into that but they felt that it was technically not a violation of their contract.
My point is that Shuttle America is doing the same exact thing as Skywest yet I don't hear nearly as much animosity about that. What's the difference? I'm sure if Skywest was doing this 70 seat IAH flying with no base, you would still have this ruckus over Skywest.

Do you honestly think that if it was announced that Shuttle America was opening the IAH base to fly the E170 that the CAL pilots wouldn't have had the same reaction? I don't. I'm not a CAL pilot, but I doubt it has anything to do with Skywest not being ALPA. Again, if I'm wrong, hopefully the CAL pilots will step in here and set me straight.

don't even get nevets started. he has made it his life's mission to get a union at skywest, even though he doesn't work here. he couldn't care less about the points of this topic. he only lives for the day when all pilots are alpa pilots. because that would solve everything! (see us airways)

First of all, I won't be one of the ones in IAH and so this won't impact me. For all those d!ckhead pilots who consider denying jumpseats or blacklisting, it's not the pilot you're hurting, it's definitely not management (where the real problem lies), it's the families of the pilot who now have less of him/her at home where they are desperately needed. That's right, it's women and children that you're hurting, and it's people like Hitler, Saddam Hussein, and Osama Bin Laden that don't mind hurting women and children. Take the problem where it belongs, to management.

Can we just say only mainline pilots post from now on? I could care less what ERJ, CRJ or whatever has to say about mainline's merger. Not to discount regionals but right now there are a few battle fronts. First being outsourcing. Get rid of all 70 seats and above-as a combined United. We fly them or nothing. Second, JCBA that makes us all say great. Third, SLI that is best for all. Arbitrator will decide this I think.
Regionals have no direct input to this merger; this is not your battle. As a 10000+ pilot group, we do and we need to crush scope creep and get a great contract.

i know i'm contradicting your wishes simply by replying, but hey, it's a free internet. but i do have a serious question...i am just making sure that i understand it correctly. you mentioned "70 seats and above". but these planes are 66 seats. is it that they are certified for 70 seats? is that what you mean? i'm not being sarcastic, i'm asking sincerely. i've heard that the "new united" wants 51+ seats flown by united pilots, which would of course include the 66 seat planes.
You are correct. Above 50 seats, United should fly. I mentioned 70 seats because that is the attacking number is now. At CAL, 51 and above are not allowed. I would like to keep it that way. I don't know if they are 66 or 70. Just that they need to be felt with. I know it could hurt regionals but I think more mainline jobs ar worth the effort. The 500 hour wonder pilot and management has made labor too cheap in this business and I hope we can raise the bar to raise the profession.

You've kind of lost me here then. So you are saying when the IAH-ASE announcement was made, there were grumblings, but it was decided that it wasn't a scope violation. However, with Skywest opening a base in IAH, NOW CAL feels that that there IS a scope violation, hence the jumpseat issue.

God, you are a pompous bastard, aren't you! Not our battle?! YOU may have come up through the military, but the majority of current and future newhires at the major airlines come up through the regionals, so any discussion or debate about maintaining scope (or not, as has predominantly been the case) at the mainline level most certainly pertains to us as it is OUR future you are talking about here! A vast majority of us have been screwed by decisions made at mainline to relax scope and fully support your efforts to take back flying, but to tell me I cannot speak since I'm a regional pilot, well...
Get off it buddy, its not just all about you!

I am not saying that regionals are dying to steal my job but I know they flying will be done by Skywest/ American shuttle regardless. So, grow thicker skin and get over yourself. Maybe go post on the cargo section.
