But on another note, you all that think NW/DAL was just a walk in the park and a bunch of high fives and ass slapping are high.

We are in the middle of merging into the largest airline on the planet and you dont think there will be a few months of hiccups? How naive.

Our little bickerings about banded rates etc are nothing compared to what fight we will have with the new Lorenzo. From the first second of Smallzdik saying labor is not a factor to pushing the scope to DefCon three status in two months of the merger shows how this will go down. Its easy to say CALs MEC is at fault, but I value those opinions as much as my kid's on the subject. Lots of armchair lawyers with no inside information and the creation of 'facts' based on personal biases about what 'should' be fair.
+1.....this fight is with MGT. I fully expect both sides to BATTLE it out...the fact it has been shared with everyone is what really bothers me. If you think a bunch of type A pilots are going to get along just fine on the most watched. critical contract negotiation in the history of the industry, you are naive. I'm a CAL guy, I want UA to fight this to the end, then we all have to stand side by side, regardless of what you want, get, wish for.

Talk about naive! Please explain yourself. Have you personally asked these two reps what was going on, or are you just repeating what Jay Pierce and Jayson Baron were saying? I spoke to both of these reps. They explained to me what was happening. If you think the IAH reps have a personal vendetta against Pierce, you are right. They have the right to question Pierce's motives on behalf of their constituents. Did the IAH reps come out first publicly with dirt on Pierce and Baron? NO. Did Pierce come out first publicly? Yes! That shows an internal weakness in his ability to play nice with others. Another word for "my agenda" or nothing. You say Pierce got tired of their shix? Oh please. These two reps are finally saying what all the pilots are thinking. Bravo to them for standing up to this "so called" leader of pilots. Pierce needs to leave ASAP. He is doing nothing to further our careers.

Pierce has shown his true colors in this BOD election matter. Too bad you have been blinded by all the BS.

Instead of just repeating all the BS, I dare you to call them and get their side. I know you won't. You just want someone to blame for your frustration. Too bad you are listening to the wrong people.

Here's their contact numbers...

Exactly! If you have doubts, call the reps. Don't just form your opinions by what Jay Pierce and Jayson Baron says.

There are two sides to every story and then there is the truth. Doesn't matter what more anyone says on this subject.

Suprised they could find time to answer the phone. I'm sure you think Eric is in on this little get Sherry and Bret vendetta too. As for what they think is happening, opinions are like *******s and I'm quite sure they both know what one smells like. If they want to question Pierce's motives, go ahead but I think you are trying to look the other way here when Jay or anyone questions their motives, much less their lack of common sense, decency, morals, and ethics in this whole matter.

This isn't dirt we are talking about. This is an attempt to circumvent the process for either personal gains and/or personal revenge for some perceived wrong.

And just what are the pilots saying? Where's my contract? Where's my SLI? What about scope? Aren't those being answered? You think back door and under the table negoiating with another MEC/LEC is appropiate? Gee, kinda reminds me of what.....say C02? If anyone here needs to step down both Bret and Sherry should have done this as soon as this "matter" came to light.

So, I take it you haven't or won't call them and ask questions? You would rather read and believe the Pierce/ Baron version? Yes, opinions are like A holes...everyone has one. You are no different. It's a matter of how far you want to go to seek the truth. You apparently won't go the extra mile to seek it. Now you are saying that they should step down? For what? Fortunately for you and the rest of us, they are taking a stand for our pilots. Can you say the same for Pierce and Baron? When Baron refused to pay back the $6400+ he owed to the union, he should have withdrawn form the election. He didn't, and has since been tarnished.

Once again...I ask you for irrefutable proof that they are guilty of anything you claim. I will patiently wait for your response.

At this point....I think the bigger fish to fry lies far beyond the CALMEC Chairman. I'd like to know who's advising Smizek on pilot contract loopholes.
I know his legal background....but I suspect he's getting input from flt. ops too. I just finished re-reading section 1. It looks clear to me that the contract stays as is until the JCBA or SLI....which ever is the latest. If Mgt. does have a loophole, but chose now to exploit it, it would seem more like provocation to me.
************************************************** ******
Fron Flight Ops Where though? The Same Group that were involved in the 1113 Negotiation that TOOK away money are all still bere. Tilton, McDonald Etc.
The Same people who set UP the UAX contract are still here Except Now they're going to have More to work with. What did you think? they were just going to go away? Any Senior manager coming from CAL who DOESN'T tote the "water"? Won't be at the New UAL Very long, and that includes Smisek. They knew Months ago what they were going to do upon close of the Merger. If you guys don't stop messing around and get to a single Group SOON? You won't have to Worry about UAX at all. Because it will take a STRIKE to get them to put a "sunset" date on their 70 seat operation. If NOT demand an 86-90 seat Limit, on some 2-50's for one 86-90 deal. They Must BELIEVE you guys will cave in like dominoes or they wouldn't be doing this in your FACE, would they? If they didn't think they have potential to do exactly what I just stated? Then They're using it to incite insurrection. (probably against ALPA) Is this a Plot?
Is managment perpetrating?? I believe they are.. Or? Then WHY go to all the trouble to move airplanes and pilots across country or down Country from OTHER Hubs just to stick in the CALPA's Pilot's FACE?? Stop, Think, and start showing an "Attack" Defense. (or at the LEAST one that Management THINKS Might Attack!) before they believe they might be the second coming of "Lorenzo" .. and before anybody starts talking about what the UAL pilots Let Happen in Ch-11? The team that took UAL into and OUT OF Bankruptcy? Got Labor, and Finance Laws passed against them NOT to repeat all the "Heinous" stuff they pulled while in Bankruptcy!! And that Architect? Is Still HERE!! And?? Now He's got your Boy Smisek riding "Shotgun" TOO!! So what do YOU have?? Not Much solidarity,(as it appears) Leaders of possibly "questionable" Unionist character As you've stated publicly, (By Name no less!) And 1400+ furghloughed guys on your "Six". Were I your Leader? I'd tell you Man up! Shut up! and get with Business! Labor is under ENOUGH pressure already. Delta's Lee Moak has One thing on you guys. His guys Handled Business!! Whether it was pretty? I can't say, But it WAS effective because they're getting PAID!
We're two months In and No real Negotiations toward a single seniority list. And? your "Squabbles" are in the NEWSPAPER!! Now THAT'S Brilliant! Look. I'm a Fan of yours. This can be a Great deal, For ALL of us!
But NOBODY is going to negotiate a DAMN thing at United until you guys get your ball rolling. Let it sit long enough?? And it'll go FLAT!! You guys are Supposed to be "Sharp". Well? You aren't looking like it at the moment. I sure hope this changes.

Thanks Strfry51

Now for some good news my sources say the MEC meeting was good , everyone on same page (the enemy is management not CAL) and most importantly Wendy and Jay speaking to each other daily for the last 6 days. The nasty emails are water under the bridge, still no mutual agreement on the pay issues but the two sides are talking it over and the differences will be overcome. Most importantly the JNC is still negotiating with management on other sections and making progress but we still have a long way to go.

The truth? Just beacuse they say it is? Actions speak louder than words. The other side of the story has yet to come out and hopefully it will from the UAL MEC as to what was done illegally. The only thing Sherry and Bret have done for the pilots is for themselves. Bayron didn't tarnish himself. The money was paid back. As for voiolating the rules; Sherry bid for a month of trips that are ALL in conflict with union business just so she can shack up with Bret. Please. How much is she going to pay back or for that matter how many hotel rooms will she reimburse the union for using where none were needed.
