Scope and the JCBA

So please stand the line - all of you who work at a legacy - no more scope relief. Please. I'd be happy to take a furlough from my RJ job now if it meant a better career down the road.
And if you strike for it, my non-union ass will be happily be out on the picket line with you (if you'll allow me).

A lowly RJ guy

Actually you are quite incorrect on this point. We do have problems with it. Big time. We all got suckered years ago about the role of the RJ in this industry. I'm content to admit that I'm a part of this problem as an RJ driver. The way I see it, anyone who voted to give away scope or who took this crap job flying RJs can share responsibility for the mess we are in. I don't hate on anyone for it (except the few idiots with the 'Guppy Killer' stickers or the blind RJ haters) but pointing fingers and being divisive won't get us anywhere. Management wins every time we all stay divided.

the same thing and it's up to us as mainline guys to fight for it.
If we don't get you a contract worth coming to, we have nobody to blame but ourselves.

I fly an RJ and am based in ORD. I too want to beat down the pilots with the guppy-killer stickers. It is extremely important for the Mainline pilots to draw a line in the sand and hold it. The fight is with Management NOT us. I have heard UA pilots say chit under thier breath and over the radio that is downright terrible. They are taking out thier aggression and aiming it at all the RJ drivers. Just the way management wants. If Jeffy has it his way Terminal B and C will be all RJ's within the next 24 months . I sure hope Mainline guys get thier stuff together and bow up on the people actaully trying to take thier jobs away. I will gladly stand in line with you, but accuse me of taking your job or talk chit to me about being a lowly RJ driver and you stand a good chance of losing some support.

You are NOT lowly. I was a former commuter guy, mostly T-Props, but flew RJ's when they first came on line in the late 90's. Two furloughs later, I am presented with an opportunity/invitation to be your co-pilot in lieu of being furloughed.....this industry is beyond f'd up. The problem is, who thought 10 or so years ago that we would be faced with 70+seat RJ's with two class seating and crews paid welfare wages? That is management's wet dream. Even frequent flyer friends of mine don't mind the big RJ's. They like the 2x2 seating, etc. The serious problem and bottom line is twofold......1. The mainline guys need to stand firm and hold the line when it comes to scope issues....and 2. RJ guys need to DEMAND more for what they do, which is essentially the same job we all do, just on smaller aircraft. If we have RJ pilots willing to work at 18 or 20 $ an hour (co-pilots of course) and captains willing to work for not much more, WE ARE ALL SCREWED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Come on EVERYONE.......Let's get what we ALL deserve!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!
A little Animal House humor to drive my point home. Let's go boys and girls, the time is now. RJ's need to be paid respectable wages if mainline guys are to be paid respectable wages. That is the reason management LOVES THE RJ'S SO MUCH! RJ guys can't just say they are with us, they need to be the ones to shut it down! Won't ever happen though........and there in lies the problem. Sorry all, I am on a rant and will go have another beer and shut up now. Peace.
220, 221......whatever it takes!

Even for your furloughed brethren that went to work at the places that took their job in the first place, for less than half the pay? Places that the UALAPA FULLY endorsed them to go to while other MEC's said "stay the hell away"?
