I believe there are people who interviewed back in '08, offered the job, but then the classes were stopped/ canceled before they actually got on property. Don't know where they stand...

I know I was one of those people. I also work with another person who was in the same boat.

I'm one of the '08 hires as well. They will be honoring us once vacancies are available and not filled by L-UAL furloughs. I hear there may be a re-interview since it's been so long.

Not sure when to expect an offer because furloughed L-UAL folks who previously bypassed offers at L-CAL can get in at their leisure when there's a slot avail. Maybe in a month or so we'll have a better idea what to expect after the system bid is released and a plan for classes beyond October is devised.

Will you have to wait for the UA side to hire or will they bring you in on the CA side?

The official unofficial word from CPT Venema is those on both sides of UConn that were hired but didn't start training will get first dibs on interviews when hiring off the street starts back. No word on what that interview may consist of for those guys but they would get called first...make sure your stuff is up to date on airline apps is where I would start.

L-CAL side. I started hearing rumblings a while back that we could be there by fall, but as of late it might not be until late winter/early spring. Like I said, I think it's a complete guess as it depends on previous by-passers electing to get in.

All I can say is we "'08-ers" are very fortunate that they are honoring us. It's been quite a roller coaster the last 4 years wondering what would become of us post-merger etc...

From the Chief Pilots office. They will be using Airline Apps once hiring begins. It will be the fall. September or October.

I was just briefed that we will be hiring 12 a week this fall for an indefinite time period on CAL side. Anticipate at least 300 for the year.

That's interesting to hear, I guess interviews aren't out of the question in that time frame. The 99 or so acceptances on the last round of letters filled classes through most of October is what I was told. I guess we'll see what classes are planned beyond Oct. and if some L-UAL by-passers choose to come over and fill those.

I'm eager to have a chance at a class when the time comes, but if that time is still a ways off, maybe it'll be in line with a new JCBA that raises first year pay to a manageable level (and benefits too).
