UPS told the pilot group that furloughs were caused by the change in the retirement age as well as some other factors.

Emotional topic indeed. I don't have a problem with guys staying on past 60, they were told it was ok to do so. I have a problem with them saying that age 65 had NOTHING to do with my second furlough. Yes, the economy and other factors were involved, but NO RETIREMENTS was the nail in our coffin. If they need to make themselves feel better by saying age 65 had nothing to do with furloughs, fine. There are guys that can justify crossing a picket line too.

Again, if you are over 65, I don't blame YOU for my furloughs, but DO NOT say that age 65 had little to no effect on my career. I'm sure you and your families stayed in your homes and ate just fine over the last few years.

For every pilot who stayed on beyond 60, there is a counterpart who was put on the street. whatever reasoning these guys need to make themselves feel better, that fact remains.

Don't plan to stay past 60 here, but for all those complaining what are you going to do when you get to 60?
