I don't know all the stats on who is flying to 65 and who is not. That being said almost everyone I fly with has been beaten up in this industry including many who struck at cal and stood up for many of the folks knocking them now. There retirement has been taken and they are trying to make it up the best they can. Is this an excuse, I guess so but many have stood up for this profession and paid a pretty big price. It seems that most on here that are against them working to 65 sound like they will now work till 65 themselves with the excuse that the current 65 made them because of lost wages time in the left seat whatever. How is this any different to the guys under you?

Exactly, the training pipeline was shut down because due to the change of the retirement age there was no longer a need to hire replacements; before UAL can furlough they must first hire. The only thing man power planning cares about is the number of pilots required to fly the schedule. UAL is not a flying club nor should they be expected to run a jobs program for instructors and unemployed pilots.
If a 747-400 Captain retires, how many NEWHIRES are required?
(a) it is not ONE pilot but around 10-12 new pilots to fill all the vacancies created by the ONE pilot leaving at the top.
Using your logic I guess it is "ok" to cross a picket line since "The airline was hiring"

One guy leaving from the top may trigger 12 bid/training moves as junior guys below move up, but overall, the company is still short just one pilot.
Unless you are saying that recallees/newhires are only 1/12 the efficiency or manpower-model of a crusty old Captain.
