Furloughed LUAL guys....

CAL does not staff based on pilot-to-aircraft ratios, they staff purely on block hours. Completely different philosophies. Want to guess who's in charge of manpower planning at UCH? (hint: you won't like the answer)
The two subsidiaries fly approx the same number of block hours, I'll let you determine the amount of pilots staffed at each.

Hummm I seem to remember UAL ALPA amending the ALPA merger policy to include longevity.... Sounds like you were trying to protect yourselves as far as seniority integration for a merger with CAL or was it USair?
You see Syd we can go back and forth endlessly. Here's the simple fact: We, UAL-CAL, are one company. Time to move on, pick up the pieces.

I agree with the move on part, but the merger policy wasn't changed by anything UAL ALPA did. It was changed by Nat'l after the DAL/NWA merger precedent. And the change came about well before the UAL/CAL merger. If you have information on some action by UAL ALPA having a part in that change please share.
The last thing UAL ALPA would have wanted to do in fear of a USAir merger was add longevity to the equation given the demographics of the two groups.
Rather the "new" ALPA policy was the outcome of the hard lessons learned by the US Airways/America West fiasco.

You should think before you freaking post.
Im all for credit where credit is due..ie: longevity, career expectations, time in seat etc. All that is worth some percentage in a SLI
But I don't agree for a minute that ANYONE should end up much more senior or junior that they were before the merger.
We all know more than a few will get screwed in this SLI, it shouldn't be a complete A... f...ing

Isn't there a group at cal that did some flow through I think they call it where they didn't fly at cal until 93 or 95 but there seniority is 87 or 89 something along those lines? They flew for cal express before that?

And of course after 9-11 there were flow backs to COEX, you could take a seat at COEX or furlough. Clear as mud...

Think before I post, really? I have had 13 years to think. I have been screwed by more senior pilots at United more times than I can count. Think bond distribution, no furlough clause. I have 1650 Continental pilots that were hired after me, if you only include time on the property, then it is still 1625 pilots behind me. I am fine with date of hire. Screw the 83-85 hires on both lists.
