Ok so if I read this right chances of somebody in an Sept, Oct or Nov classes of getting 756 are pretty good? Or will they require a certain amount per class to take 737 bids?

It was reported in another thread that there would be limited number of 756 slots for "new hires" in the Nov and Dec classes. I'm gonna guess that it's driven more by training availability than need.

I'm not sure there's a consistency to what is offered to each class. Even though there are 756 vacancies, that doesn't mean the 756 will be available to choose in any particular class. I think it depends on the availability of instructors and sims during that training period; and on where manpower wants/needs spots filled in the near term.

Food for thought.....

I bid the 756 earlier this year and got it while in training. After a whole month of "CAL RESERVE WORK RULES" I decided to put off my 756 training as LATE as possible, thus I bid "out of" the 756 and will stay on the 737.

1.I am holding a line (which is KEY here on the "CAL SIDE")
2.YOU WILL NOT BE OFF RESERVE ANYTIME SOON ON THE 756
3.RESERVE HERE SUCKS AZZZ.

The 737 is flown over here like the 757 at UAL. Long legs, a lot of Intl (mostly Central and South America out of IAH) .....something to think about to my fellow furloughee's

Yea, junior on the 757 sucks. You will fly all night on 13 hour three day trips. I bid off of it.

Sonny

Interested in knowing your DOH at UAL. Nice to hear some of the guys are able to hold a line now. Are you EWR or IAH based? Thanks.

One mans opinion...
It depends on "when" you get the 756. I got the plane in training also, and was the last line holder that first year I got here and have gone back and forth between reserve and lineholder.
(Nov07 hire, line holder May08.. below the G Line the last two months but still got lines)

Reserve here does suck.. but-
If you're gonna be on reserve, the 756 is alot better than the 737.

Reality is, those who get the 756 during the beginning of this wave will probably be line holders at some point next year.

Oh, and the 73 does it's share of short flights too.. having deadheaded on one yesterday and talking to the FO~

Just food for though.

DOH 8/99

When the SLI is complete I will probably bid the 756.....the plane I was flying BEFORE this merger with UAL Tulip on the side.

P.S. I hear Longevity is in the JCBA/AIP and it is part of ALPA merger policy---something to think about as all the 2005 CAL hires try to grab up all the Capt seats.

Haven't heard that.. but then again, there are a bunch of CAL Pilots who were also furloughed that wouldn't mind Longevity too..

Be careful what you wish for.

As is 'career expectations'. It's hard to make the argument that guys who are/were flying as Captains, with reasonable career expectations, should be placed behind guys who were furloughed, who had zero career expectations!

Just saying.
