From the early 1980's until about 2005, CAL was a bottom feeder airline. Lowest pay, worst work rules, tons of scabs that defined their culture. They still sucked in 2005, but the rest of the legacy airlines were brought down to their level due to 9/11.

Now they have a superiority complex since their airline didn't park as many planes as UAL.

Somebody needs a reality check.

We all suck equally. CAL pilots seem to have a culture (established by the scabs) of being treated horribly and thinking it's just normal. That's one thing the UAL pilots never lost. We lost control of our contract during bankruptcy....but we still don't take crap from management, the crew desk, or gate agents.

That seems to be one of the biggest problems with UAL guys coming over to CAL. They are flabbergasted by how poorly you guys are treated.

You just don't know any better...

Rocketiii,

You had better either lighten up or develop thicker skin. The "bottom feeders" are here to stay, and they won't be "pulling your gear" forever. Yeah, we have a percentage of whiners and complainers, but they don't represent us all any more than your scabs represent you. If you could stop being so g damn defensive, you might actually learn something from those bottom feeders.

Have a nice day.

There is a bit of a problem with that statement as whole topic of this thread was about a guy who had enough culture, and resigned... AFTER he resigned the CP went ahead with efforts to have him fired.

Welcome to the Hotel CALifornia?

I've had some mouthy Capts (2), that wanted to start an argument about the SLI, I refused to get into it. Most CAL crew members think that CAL is the crown jewel of aviation, I actually feel sorry fir them, cause its a crap hole. But then again, aviation pretty much sucks anymore.
Just watch what you say at work, you don't know who's a scab (many wear pins), FAs love CAL and get pi$$ed if you think it isn't the greatest. They manage by force here and they hire weak personalities on the Cal side that will take the beatings.
Don't know who is a SCAB? Nonsense. I have a SCABlist on my company Ipad. Was able to point out a CAL SCAB j/s to a UAL Cap the other day out of IAH. Dude got left at the gate (and a junior CAL pilot got the j/s). We all laughed and joked about it all the way to Denver.

Come to think of it Rocketiii, I have been online for about 6 months and I have had a great time flying with the Cal Captains. You know what, they all say they have enjoyed flying with us Ual guys. Maybe the problem is you...

A short bus captain got arrested in DEN. That's not poor treatment?

He made physical contact. That crossed the line.

This has been my experience as well. 100% in fact.

Then again the Captains don't perceive me to be a threat to their seniority number in the ISL.

The FOs on the other hand.....(when they're not too busy grubbing open time)
