New In House Union Effort UPU
#1
After much rumbling and after having seen the initial drafts of the C & B a group calling themselves the United Pilots Union has made their efforts public knowledge. I have much to say on this effort. Preliminarily my thoughts are extremely negative. Will ALPA heed this as a wake up call to transparency and provide greater implementation of line pilot participation? Or is this effort worth pursuing? I know...same old story.

Perhaps someone from the L-UAL side can give a brief synopsis of Andy Collins' prior involvement (or lack there of) in ALPA? Another Key player is a DC Bus Captain. Not sure if they want their name made public yet.
Bio information on these "leaders" is an absolute must. If we find they are previously disenfranchised or screaming minority pilots, UPU needs to be stonewalled. If however they are just normal people with line experience, minimal political animals and their hearts are in the right place, then maybe there is reason to lend them volunteer time and donate funds.

I have been gone from UAL for 4.5 years. In retrospect, I am more happy to be away from ALPA than UAL. I always wished we could $^$&t-can them all. I might also support that effort in the future.
However this is the here and now. In the here and now we need to finish the process of becoming ONE. That includes ALPA being part of the process. Any effort to derail that effort puts us all at risk of becoming another USAIR.
No matter how the ISL turns out, and it will not be catastrophic for any of us, we need to finish the process. Then if we want to vote the bums out I will vote yes.
I would like to thank the current "bums" for putting their differences aside and coming to an agreement for a TA. Without this all of our careers would have been decimated, same same the USAIR and America Worst pilots.
