Fences

Because if you are a CAL pilot and you get a relative seniority merger (i.e. same percentage of list pre vs post merger) then you get to be the same percentage on an airline with a much higher ratio of widebody aircraft to narrowbody jets.
So if you are fenced off them, that's not "fair" because you WANT to be able to fly those big jets, that you don't have the opportunity to right now, and those guys who have been waiting to fly those big airplanes at UAL, it isn't "fair" that they have that chance and not you.
So anything more than a 5 year fence "wouldn't be fair".
So either there has to be a major fence or ratio that always gets maintained between the two groups so that sUAL pilots still have the same ratio of widebody jobs they have access to today, OR the seniority list needs to be put together in a way that makes that happen without a fence.
So if today there are 3,000 UAL pilots flying Cap and FO on widebody aircraft, and 1,000 CAL doing the same, then in 15 years, that ratio should still exist.

I could accept that but you have to spell out what will be fenced. 747. Ok. Probably will be gone before that fence is over. 787. Can't. We have them too. 777. Can't. We have them too. A350. Ok. Only fleet type here that makes sense except that there aren't any on property and there wont be until at least 2017. So how do you fence an aircraft that no one is flying? So one fence for 15 years. I think almost all CAL pilots can live with that. Happy?

Ah sorry but no matter how much cooler you feel in The Whale, for the next four years the 767-400 and 787 pay exactly the same. 67% of us including a healthy majority at S-UAL codified that one. By all means fence the whale and heck even fence the rest of the 'real' widebodies at some percentage. I'm perfectly content with the metal S-CAL brought despite the accusation that we only brought cruddy guppies to this merger.

Y'all can keep flying your LastGen 74/5 BoeingSaurases, we'll fence off the lCal 73 Super Guppies, go ahead and get those west coast bases opened up with our 2006 DOH Captains. How's that sound?

Odd but I know plenty of AA and airways pilots on narow body equipment who have ZERO desire to A)go back to the school house, B)Fly across the pond, C) Rather be closer to home and domestic then in a foreign country.......
I can almost guarantee many nearing retirement, most of the Airways East group, have little desire to fly that big 777...... Hell most are already on the A330 if they really wanted to fly a big bad airplane.....
Who knows this mindset of fences to the orbit seem like the same entitlement mentality most legacy guys throw around at their younger counter parts..... But guess it's different in their mind

I think we should fence all the aircraft from everybody so there is no movement anywhere, stay where you are.
I also think if and when we hire it should only be if you know a chief pilot, someone in management or an intern. We don't want to base this on actual qualifications or take a qualified pilot that only knows some line pilot that actually does the work for this company and actually knows what the job entails.
Last lets make a side letter that puts lax pilot at the top of the entire
