Anyone know if they leave you a message? I interviewed before 130drvr and one of the guys I was there with the day I interviewed was sent the no thanks email today. I have had nothing...but was literally flying all day. I have Saturday off, then fly Sunday-Tuesday. The suspense is at an all-time high.

Ladies and Gents,

I just completed UAL app on airlineapp. With your professional experience at UAL, would I get any results for obtaining interview? I have over 10000 hrs and hold 777 captain position away from home. Oh yeah, late 30s... do have to admit, don't have any internal recommendation or I know of anyone at UAL. Which brings me to say, If anyone interested helping out a fellow aviator it would be greatly appreciated and be sure the favor would be returned in the future.

Cheers

IMHO, any recommendation from somebody that has not known you personally for a length of time and/or has never flown with you is not worth the electrons. In fact, it could create the opposite of the desired effect when UAL calls the person to confirm the details of their relationship to you and the ruse is exposed.

But....nothing says letters have to be internal. Well written letters from your superiors, your FOs, or others you have flown with can be valuable---not to mention from those outside of aviation that can provide a positive indication of your character.

p.s. Unless you really want/need to repatriate, IMHO, you are nuts to seek employment at UAL considering your age and experience. But so long as you know what you are getting into, good luck with the process!!!

Thanks for the info on the letters, for some reason I always though It would have to be internal for weight in the process.

I don't know the weight applied in scoring but I have to suspect the internal letters do carry more weight. But both carry weight for the job offer.

What an applicant doesn't want is enough points to score an interview but then have HR find the internal recommendation is flimsy (red flag!) and not make an offer when they complete their due diligence when the applicant had enough 'horsepower' in their app to score an interview on their own.

Does anyone know what current seniority is holding the 787? Maybe by years employed? I don't want to sound like I think I have any chance whatsoever of getting close to this, just curious.

It's kinda a theoretical question in the middle of the SLI. Whatever the answer is today will change in a couple months one way or the other moving forward.

But for now it's a 2007 hire at sCAL with the junior FO award on the last sCAL system bid (I don't know if he's been trained yet.)
