And Ben Salley, if you are reading this, I noticed in your update that not one word was mentioned about how RIDICULOUS this LCAL proposal is. Just castigated our furloughed pilots for not licking your boots in thanks. And all this under the guise of being a "team player".
He expected them to lick the boot of the "special list pilots". He called them MENTORS but we know who/what they are.

Maybe there are a few right seat Captains out there that are causing problems. Ever thought of that, Stalker? Ben would not ave written a letter like that if there weren't more than a few complaints.

your list has furloughed pilots, that may never come back, going ahead of active pilots.

Was in the Denver crew room the other day. Several pilots were welcoming back a CAL FO. I thought to myself, if it wasn't for us and our little regional airline, this guy would not be setting foot inside this Denver crew room. I guarantee you he would not be out flying a jumbo, he would be out looking for a JOB! Oh wait you downsized for this merger to happen, I know started back in 2000.

I thought people stopped using the word jumbo back in the 1970s? In another five years those airplanes will be what, 50-60, 70 years old??

BTW, your 777 lines in SFO are just awful! The days off are not there. I like my 737 don't want to fly a JUMBO! Get plenty of time off and don't have to fly so far away.

I say fence your jumbo forever, don't care. We can then fence our 737 captain upgrades and I will take my jumbo pay check. That way you can upgrade in your jumbo, but you better hurry your jumbo will soon be 50 years old.

Wouldn't expect you to understand why people use the term Jumbo when you can't understand why they call your steed a GUPPY.

I may be wrong but the Jumbo(747) first flight was two year after the GUPPY(737).

Spreading the peanut butter more evenly is always a winning argument from the bottom half's perspective.
Joe, pay bands existed at both CAL and UAL before the merger and were in the CALALPA pre-merger Contract 09 proposal. UPS pays strictly based on CA/FO status and longevity. There are legitimate arguments for and against a variety of pay schemes, but what I say in the preceeding sentences are facts.

The humorous part is that the pay schedules will benefit UAL pilots by virtue of pure numbers. No matter how the SLI is broken down UAL pilots gain 737 Cap time and CAL pilots gain WBFO time and given that 737 time is the highest compensation relative to peers UAL pilots stand to benefit from the CAL negotiated contractual rates.
Joe, are you aware that with the exception of the 762, CAL 737 "raises" were among (along with the CAL 757) the smallest in the combined companies and were essentially cost of living from our concessionary contract's amendable date of 1/09? The "big winners" (phrase used in strictly relative terms) in this contract's pay scales were UAL Airbuses and wide bodies on both sides.

Not true. The reason the Airbus guys (sadly after the bump now includes me) got the largest raise is because they took it in the shorts the most during 2003/2005 compared to the other fleets and industry pay. The fleets that got the SMALLEST raise are the ones that actually won, because that means they spent the last decade closest to industry pay. When you are only getting pennies on the dollar in retro, you were better off having the last decade be at the better pay rate

First of all, I personally think there should be no fences. I'd just assume we get this thing done, and get on with the business of chasing Delta.

That being said, you are making wild assumptions saying that without a merger, our furloughed pilots would NEVER be coming back or NEVER fly a "jumbo". Without a merger, United would have been recalling substantially by now most likely. The plan to replace the 757's was based on having the 737-900's to replace them with, which we can't presently fly. Absent a merger, there would need to have been a different plan in place. Also, LCAL has been accepting nearly all the hiring to replace retirements.... Including OUR retirements, and that obviously wouldn't have been the case in the event of a non-merger. Lastly, Tilton is known to have been exploring a guppy replacement (including possibly the CS300) order, which became moot due to the merger. A simple look at the financials showed that United in 2009 and 2010 had rebounded from a dismal 2008 and was leading the industry financially, so it would be a fair assumption to say that the airline, and our furloughed pilots, would have had a long and successful career.

Not true getting bumped it is because the members on the mec and how they scared folks like you into voting for it, enjoy! I hope you enjy the sli when you take it in the shorts again. Keep voting for that 30% retro every contract the company loves you.
