Default MEC Update Regarding SLI

This answers this question....

Question: After the ISL is released, I’m hearing that those L-UAL furloughees hired by L-CAL (u-Hires) won’t be able to bid for line preferencing or vacancies until they rebid into their current position or into an open position. Any truth to that?

Fact: (from JIT and JNC): Not true. Once the list comes out we will update numbers and pay longevity within a couple days. Barring any unforeseen delays and depending on the actual release of the ISL, uHires should be able to bid the next possible bid month’s PBS schedules with their new seniority numbers. Pay longevity may take a little longer since it requires manual data entry but will pay retroactively to ISL release date. Also, unless the ISL award specifies otherwise, uHires should be able to use their new numbers for vacancy bidding soon after the award is accepted by the Company.

I know the UAL MEC has already been working with IT on this. Looks like ALPA MERGER POLICY will prevail and Katz's "Staple 3000 to the bottom" aint gonna happen.

You don't really believe that anybody not under the influence of meth is going to staple 1/3 of the UAL list do you?

You mean putting UAL pilots with 14 years of continuous service below CAL pilots with 3 years of service as of the merger?

Let's just hope we don't merge with Alaska because they will ask for a 1 for 1 deal and claim we have 7,400 "extra" pilots. Like United would just hang onto 3,000 "extra" pilots that they didn't need. LOL.

Curious ... what would be "fair and equitable" for you 2007/08 hires?

If you strictly look at stovepipes, in 2010 everyone at CAL hired mid 2005 and later is a guppy FO or furloughed. That equates to a 1998 - 2008 UAL hire, or course some of those guys have 12 years longevity. Some less.

If you strictly go longevity, everyone hired 2007/2008 had 2-3 years. Most UAL furloughees had more longevity that this.

So the tradeoff is that they end up with pilots in a worse status and category (ie furloughed) but more longevity (5-7 years of active time only) and thats just a guess, not making a judgement either way about it.

We should know Tuesday.

No need to rant or rage, because this is only my guess since longevity was added to the policy.

Without that I would have guessed differently.

Is your stovepipe small narrowbody F/O, or specifically 737 F/O? Are you equating this group (05 and later) 98-08 UAL hires as A-320 pilots? Just trying to grasp your math.. Not that it matters much as you say in your second paragraph I quoted.
