Last week on my trip everything went great. We were on time everywhere we went all of our maintenance items were fixed and we received our MRD's before push time. We never once had to wait for final weights. This place rocks I LOVE working here and I see nothing but positive cash flow and stability for the future. Looks like we will be getting our next contract with huge pay raises and QOL increases a year early and Jeff has decided to voluntarily step down and let a competent leader take the reins.
See I am incapable of telling a lie.....But the F/A story is for real.

I have nothing bad to say about captains from either side. Everyone has been great.
Observations:
Previous CAL talk, a lot, about the size of their paychecks but are also all about teaching you how to max out pay/QOL too. One spent two days teaching me how to max out PBS credit. Haven't had a single beer bought for the half wing pin, lots of slam clicking.
Previous UAL, enthrall to finally be in a left seat. Almost to a fault feel it's their duty to take care of us new guys (thanks!) Try and avoid talking about last 10 years. Don't scratch off the shiny exciting veneer of their new left seat and expose the disappointment/vitriol of last decade.

Sincere question here and would appreciate some honest replies. What is it with the UAL side of the house refusing aircraft on non-ETOPS flights with a legitimate APU placarded? I've seen several flights cancelled because of this with a very recent 767-400 leaving the F/O behind because he refused to take the aircraft.
Looking for explanations as I never saw one refused on the CAL side ever.
Thanks

We have what's called a Minimum Equipment List or MEL which explains what equipment can be inoperative, it also explains how this affects you operationally, and any restrictions you may face. I think if you search your IPad, you'll find one too. Not sure what you go by Air Hoss, but if your afraid to fly with an inoperative APU, your in the wrong business, or you need to grow a pair.... I even (gasp) used to fly a turbine plane without an APU installed, and I survived.
