But, in my case IAH 737 looking at the vacancy bid letter the Max was 590ish and the min was 540ish. So that means they probably won't displace those bottom 50 or so they'll just let them stay or go to a different position? Letting the base decrease by natural attrition. Am I understanding this correctly?
I don't pay much attention to the MIN/MAX number because it is not a good indicator of master plan. All that number is good for is letting us know when the company MUST backfill a seat. So they can play with this number, if they made IAH737 590 max and 585 min then as soon as the 6th bid out they would have to backfill. They want to shrink IAH down so they put a large spread in between the two numbers so they don't have to backfill the seat. I hope that makes sense.......

Looks like 516 min and 573 max in IAH. In between those two myself and can likely get IAH 320 and a double digit seniority bump. Not wild about training again for the same pay rate, but don't want to leave IAH either. Debating the bird in hand vs waiting it out with lots of potential movement to west coast, ORD, and the wild card of Dulles.

All week to think about it, or not. Missing anything?

The airbus is a lower pay rate. Vacation, etc is paid at the blended rate. There is a higher percentage of 319s than 737-700s

Thanks. Looks like lineholders on 320 in IAH are averaging about 73 hours pay. Lineholders on 73 about 82.

The Airbus is also a more senior aircraft. Better to stay on the Guppy than move to the Bus.

Man, I'm on the outside, face pressed against the window looking longingly in but... Does that mean newhires aren't going to the 73' right now?

Vacancies are a regular feature with many retirements and the company adjusting fleet sizes for many reasons. Current employees get first dibs on these of course. With the size of the 737 fleet there will likely always be new hires going into it.

Gotcha. That makes more sense. Guess every company calls their various bids something different. Again, as an outsider, I thought the 737 and 787 fleets were the only ones seeing growth so was surprised not to see the 737 on the list.

I was going to be happy that 6 or 7 ahead of me are bidding either IAH or EWR CA, but then I noticed 15 below me are leaving. With only 80 positions left or so, that may be bad news for my line :-/. Still glad to see guys getting to where they want to go!
