Agree with you lets hope the MEC does as well

On July 21, the United MEC sent out a link to a video explaining domestic scope considerations. I thought it was pretty interesting as it laid out how ALPA was angling to increase mainline flying regardless of whether or not we get a NSNB. Here is the address: https://vimeo.com/user13985327/revie...306/46867cc974

In Upfront News, there is also an interesting video with BZ discussing "What aircraft are we looking at?" where he pretty much shoots down the E-190. I hear the C-Series is nice and I imagine Bombardier is offering some pretty good deals. That said, I think the shift of some widebodies to domestic flying and the acquisition of used Airbii suggests the company is not going to get a NSNB anytime soon.

Know what I'd love to see in a contract... a scope clause for management. Limitations on pay, stock options, micromanaging, layers of management, daily email blasts, and visits from the good idea fairy. I can dream can't I?

Hilarious the company thinks we would even consider this. Let's defer the new contract two years (probably more like 4) when the company will be on the edge of bankruptcy again. Sounds reasonable to me. I won't be blinded by change on the ground when there are stacks of cash in the closet.

Looks like you're right. Sounds like the CS100/300 is pretty much dead.Forbes Welcome

If your theory holds true that we will be on the edge of Ch11 in 4 years then shouldn't we take the money and run now? Because historically it takes several years to get a contract so we would be trying to negotiate improvements in a contract with a company that's going Ch11. That's not a sound strategy.

If you look at current negotiations at other companies, record profits are certainly NOT helping pilot leverage

Of the 3 NSNB choices - CS100, E190, E195 - the E190 is the one that I'd definitely like to see the company bring to mainline due to it being the smallest choice. Why wouldn't the company buy it?

If the E190's ruled out and it looks like the CS100 won't get built, the only choice for mainline would be the E195.

Having NSNBs flying for mainline would help stop scope creep; my hope is that any NSNB aircraft will be less than 100 seats to keep that gauge from being outsourced in the future.

Looks like buying new E-190s would not be economical. Used, possibly.

^^^ Inclined to agree with you. History repeats itself and those of us that have been here for mahy years know that the party on this economic cycle will end sometime. The MEC letter implies the same thing. Also, there's financial value in time for your retirement to grow: getting meaningful wage increases NOW vs 4 years from now yields far greater growth in the B fund.

I believe those orders along with the 40 737s mentioned in that article were scrapped with the failed TA.

As to an early opener....what are we, 7 months out from starting normal negotiations which always seem to take years? Doesn't hurt to listen to the company's offer IMO. If they want to delay getting other aspects of the contract fixed for 2 years, then they need to be willing to pay for it. Considering what delta, SW, and Fedex have been offered, I imagine we would need to see new NSNB aircraft with great pay rates along with 20+% pay rate increase at DOS and increases for the next couple years.

I can't wait to see their "Compensation" opener. Most of the other specified areas are aimed at us junior folk (quite rightly). But what will they have to put on the table to entice people who don't really need to care about reserve, narrow bodies and furlough corrections?
