Rumor is that there were going to be massive reserve work rule improvements that would make reserve even better than being a lineholder. The cost was only a 15% pay raise instead of a 16% pay raise.

They called around to a bunch of guys complaining about how terrible reserve was and when they explained it the reserves demanded the 16% pay instead of reserve changes.

That's only a rumor of course.

wrong again
only about 10-15% of voting pilots are on reserve. and maybe half of those are whiny and want 24 advance call to their pool in Tucson
so we can vote 10500 votes to 1500 votes to use the money saved on reserve to pay us 80 percenters more cash !
hahahaha

Look, morons.
I was curious about the Extension terms and had a look here on the forum.
And I noticed a few pilots posting complaints that the reserve system wasn't fixed.
And I know there are 12000 pilots, maybe 1200 on reserve, maybe 600 of those are really unhappy with being on reserve as it is now.
And a small handfew are complaining openly on this forum.
So I, stupidly, piped in and pointed out that, yes, reserve sucks, but the 10000 pilots with lines aren't going to cough up pay so some pilot can sit reserve in Arizona poolside ( I know guys who do this) on Long Calls.
And now this small handful of complainers are just losing their minds and throwing tantrums.
I guess I should have known the only pilots hanging out in forums are those sittin reserve in some crash pad.
Enjoy your time on reserve, folks, and grow up.

What is funny, is that a couple of pretty sr folks are complaining. Until 06 or so, LUAL's reserve system was 4 hours to pushback. So 3 hours to show. Now long call is 12 hours, short call is slightly shorter to show time. But we get paid an hour for the SC. We used to be on SC every single day, and get paid guarantee.

I have been over 80 hours on reserve all except one month when I bid it. Two months, I made 90. I have not flown over 25 hours on reserve in 2 years.

Our current reserve system is the best it has ever been, by far. I also have zero sympathy for somebody that bid to commute to reserve, and then complain that they can't sit at home every day and wait for the call.

None. Zero.

In 07 or 08, I flew with somebody who was insanely pi$%ed off about our reserve system. I had been on the same system for 2 years, and thought it was our best system, ever.

Fast forward to 2015. Other than that guy, the ones here on APC are the only ones who I have ever heard complain about our reserve system. I fly with them regularly. ALL of them think it is a good gig, unless manpower gets short.

ALL of us are happy to get all the short calls we can get.

If manpower is short, you are going to get abused no matter what system we have.

If, by choice, you chose to commute to it, TBSS.
