I'm not sure that's true either. The 2 hour extension is available to table B and C limits. I don't see where it is applicable to the 16 hour RAP restriction (the lesser of table B plus 4 hours or 16 hours). In any case, if you waive, that's on you.

That is also completely wrong. Short call has its own special place in part 117, and you cannot legally duty more than 16 hours.

There is a 117 PowerPoint briefing on Alpa's website. It's very useful - especially for understanding reserve as it pertains to our contract.

Is that not what I said?

I don't see where it is applicable to the 16 hour RAP restriction
Besides, you should caveat your statement with "in non-augmented operations". You can legally duty more than 16 hours in augmented ops, making your blanket statement also wrong. At least that's the way I read it.

Why would anyone waive?

Ohhhhh. Hahahahha! I get it now! Hang in there. Things are moving quicker than they have since the '90's. Fingers crossed it keeps going!

I would not advocate waiving. but just to be clear, a reserve, unaugmented, given the right circumstances, can have a combined RAP +FDP that equal 16 hours, that is allowed to have an extension of up to 2 hours for a max total day of 18 hours.

It has been mentioned in ALPA emails, the other forum, and I found an FAA letter linked below that clearly states extensions to an RAP+FDP are subject to an extension of up to 2 hours.
Again, I don't advocate extending, just sharing some knowledge a lot of folks don't know about.

And one more letter confirming this:

Thanks for posting those letters. This has further convinced me that reserve is an evil mystery, and not to be understood by simple minds like mine.

No problem, the first time I heard about it I was blown away and didn't think it was possible either.
