Most likely recall guys. Today's plan isn't always tomorrow's plan around here. Get used to that.
The information I read said that no newhire 756 positions until all 76T pilots are converted to 756. The last base converted from 76T to 756 is scheduled for May. All summer flying will be done by the 756
fleet (76T category will no longer exist).

Being put on SC doesn't always mean short staffed. In fact if they are that short, your buddy would have no SC's because he would always be flying. When they are overstaffed they tend to hand out SCs like candy in my experience.

Agreed, the flying on the 756 is great. I love the variety. Hawaii one week, Europe the next! Lots of easy domestic trans cons if that's your thing. I won't get into global reserve rules, but I suspect that's the reason it's going so junior. Expect a long time on reserve though. I'm over a year on property on the EWR 756 and still below the g line. With the closing of the 76t I keep moving further and further from a line. If you live close enough to sit short call at home, your QOL on reserve increases significantly.
Anyway, welcome aboard! This is a great company to make a career at and at a fantastic time! Lots of quick seniority coming your way!

Not too long ago, 767 guys with 16 years longevity were still WAY below the G line.
How quickly things change!
Keep in mind, they can change back just as quick!

This might be the lucky generation of airline pilots that will go a long time period without experiencing a major contraction or furlough. Timing is everything and I think the millennials might have nailed it.
