Not getting any further into it other then to add this. Hope his tweet was worth it. https://mobile.twitter.com/united/st...09260130746368

Yes, a company should and does have the right to fire people that make them look bad in instances like this. Because this moron said what he did people are all over social media saying they are boycotting United and it's causing massive amounts of negative PR.

They will. The company will suspend, maybe terminate him. Then ALPA will do whatever it can to get him his job back, as I know it will do for me if I screw up. Sometimes they're successful, sometimes not.

This is part of the social media learning curve. Saying something on the Internet *is* saying it everywhere.

Yes. It's very clearly spelled out in the company policy and ALPA code of ethics. Violate it, and you are subject to discipline up to and including termination. It happens all the time in other businesses as well. Do or say something dumb on social media, risk your job.

So the guy made the comment in his roll as a politician and someone pulled his picture as an airline pilot?

Pretty sure he didn't commit a crime and is protected by the first amendment. Hopefully UAL is going to loose any wrongful termination lawsuit.

I'm pretty sure you don't understand the constitution.

Can a lawyer prevent his client from committing an illegal act? The union has an obligation to represent him.
