Ok, the Twitter feed had been retweeted almost 500 times, the Facebook post saying UA is removing him from duty has 350 posts alone and hundreds of shares. Now you have people saying they are boycotting United if they keep him on and those calling him a patriot and saying they will boycott if he isn't reinstated. Never mind people on flyertalk forums going off. Yea, not massive. Just the kind of free advertising a fortune 500 company looks for when they send out a link for the hogan assessment to job applicants.

They let Piers Morgan on the Forum?

And on a more personal note: every dollar in lost profit because of this is something taken out of our checks mid-February because this narcissistic zealot couldn't keep his mouth shut and felt like he had something the world HAD TO HEAR.

Conservative? Liberal? Gay? Straight? Religious? Atheist? I honestly couldn't give a damn until you start taking money out of my pocket. Then we have a problem.

Hundreds of people? What is that, 2 or 3 flights full of people. Out of 1.6 million flights a year. Out of 140 million people a year.

Yeah this is doing real damage, let me tell you /sarc

None of the people saying they will boycott probably even fly anywhere at all. And those that do in all probability are not going to change their itinerary over something one guy in the hills of WV happened to tweet out. This isn't even going to hurt the company one iota. There is absolutely zero practical effect from his tweet.

Actually I do, I used to do it for a living. This will be forgotten in 24 hours by the vast majority of the people who have read the stories about it.

Well sir, your PR training is suspect.

I thought treason was punishable by firing squad...but only for members of the military.

Free speech would get this guy's job back...had it not been for the photo op in uniform. If the photo in United uniform was not tied to the tweet, United has no business in the matter.

He's junior to me, so let him stay.

No treason, just poor judgment.

The somewhat amusing thing to me about the whole thing is that it will likely take Union involvement to get him back in the cockpit. The same Union and union structure that his political party (of which he is clearly a vocal member that also holds a leadership position) wants to neuter and arguably destroy. Strange bedfellows.

It's a knee jerk reaction for him to be suspended. He will be back with full pay. The press likely went digging and found a picture of him in his pilot costume. There is nothing to see here.
