I was pretty naive in those days and took the letter to mean exactly what United stated - anticipated expansion. Had I had a means of support to get me thru the training and then hold me over until I found a job, I would have showed up for the interview process in a heartbeat but such was not the case. I could not rub two nickels together back then so I could not just walk away from a decent paying (at least to me it was a decent paying)job flying small jets. I've gained a lot of wisdom after working for 31 years at this airline and can spot a scab pool from 10 miles away. But back then, "anticipated expansion" meant exactly that.

Yep just what I figured. I know the story very well and most of your "facts are way off. Best of luck as you continue to sell it.

Starting with 570 that could have shown up for ioe if the strike was shorter. When the individuals did not show up when the strike in May started it was over for them. For the few that crossed and the 25 or so that played both sides of the fence they could do ioe. For the majority that did not cross it was over.

My little mind, lol have to love folks like yourself.

The 767 fleet is the exception. The 767 is really a wide body, but for pay, it's a bit weird. Many new hires on the 767/757.
The bottom SFO 777 FO is under 2 years. March 15 hire.

So, in my opinion, not wasting time. It's going to have to happen sooner or later. My guess is sooner. We may already be at the tipping point where the flow of pilots from express will slow down a lot because no one is left to hire.

Of course this all assumes that massive hiring will continue by all the majors in the foreseeable future and no downturn happens.
Nope, the regionals are no where near being tapped out of individuals with college degrees and spotless training/driving records. Finding new hires to fill RJs has more recently become a bit of chanllenge and rather competitive for the less desirable companies though. United itself will probably never see a shortage of hireable candidates. Mainly because there will be a ready supply of well trained pilots at the regionals. These preferential hiring programs have started as way to attract people to the less desirable RJ jobs and stem a possible shortage at the RJ level. These programs seemed to be working too, as some of the companies that were struggling to find pilots a year or 2 ago are now luring people in with the carrot of a UAL career pathway program.

My airline must be the exception. Every new hire I fly with agrees that our CPP agreement is a joke and will never land them at UAL. Can't blame them, most of us senior folks feel the same way.

Yup, I doubt most people in the programs will actually get hired at UAL because of these programs. They seem to be more of a false advertising attempt to attract warm bodies at the RJ level. Although IMO these programs might stem a shortage at UAL in 2025 at the peak of retirements.

i did not write "570 that could have shown up for ioe if the strike was shorter.". maybe grab a quick reading course and then re-read my post.

as for "starting with...". since you got that one wrong, care to continue past "starting with.."?
care to state another fact I have no idea about according to you?
try again ?

if you do not understand that Ferris planned a strike, that he actively executed a plan to fly through the strike using Fleet Quals in the front two seats and these 570 in the sideways seats, then you understand nothing. nothing.

go ahead. re-read my earlier post. then post some facts you think are wrong.
try again....

BOTH true....

The amount of vague/gray mismanaged language that exists in them is astounding.

But hey, at least it got the sick call rate for the summer of 2016 to drop at one of the regionals that has a CPP. Silly pilots thought it would affect their CPP chances...........

What a coup for regional and UAL management.
