What is the cost to displace 100 newly trained 787 FO's?

According to the CCS staffing page over half of the bottom 75 are 14-02 and 14-02D bids. There are some displaced Guppy CAs yes, but not even half of the 75.

I'd like to find out how much 14-02D cost this company.

Could they forsee terror attacks in Europe that may have reduced Atlantic traffic, or how about negative interest rates in Japan that drove the Yen up against the dollar by 20% thereby making Asian travelers more likely to buy tickets on US carriers. Did most folks believe oil would stay so low for so long and slow the Houston economy like it has?

Just saying a 100 or so displacements out of 12,000 pilots doesn't seem too awful a cost when you consider the possible benefits the company may be getting from optimizing equipment to routes every quarter or so.

Probably nothing. The training costs are fixed, since the PIs get paid whether or not they are training anyone.

Also what is the cost to have to train other pilots to fly those other positions that these extra pilots could be flying? I'm guessing the cost to just pay 100 WB FOs is a lot more than putting them somewhere they will be productive.

With this latest announcement of 75 787 displacements, I see 777 secondary displacements down the road. So the 38 guys just awarded a IAH 777 FO vacancy on 1611V may be short term place holders until the 787 guys slide on over to the 777. Brilliant.

I'm pretty sure the company can cancel a bid award... Wonder if this will be announced shortly...

The vacancy solved a 756 overstaffing, so i would imagine its easier to secondary off the triple.

Back in '08 I was JFK-756 when a displacement came along. I wanted to displace to IAD-756 for reasons of QOL, but couldn't because the junior man in JFK was not senior to the junior man in IAD so instead I displaced to ORD-737 which was slated to be eliminated. I got the 737 bump on paper, never got trained, then got bumped out of ORD-737 FO and ultimately displaced to IAD-756.

To wit . . . pilot bidding sometimes surprises folks.
