As a generality, bids go more senior in the winter as many pilots don't want to go through school in the summer..

Perhaps, but there's also some other stuff at play....
- The cancelation of the 737-700s for next year was probably a factor.

- As mentioned, bids are a slightly cyclical as a noticeable percentage of senior pilots tend to prefer to do training in the winter months for a variety of reasons.

Just wait till the 1500 hour rule gets rolled back and/or age 67 retirement happens. THAT will be the Trump affect. You reap what you sow. ;) Enjoy.

Under the to many rules/regulation promise, tHRUMP plans to remove the age limitation for pilots all together. Says medical standards already cover this.

Oscar says it would be good for United. Since United is hiring age 60+ pilots off the street and many of the pilots forced to retire by the age restriction would like to return, we plan to allow them to return in the status they retired - says it would be a win for everyone.

Guess you'll add another ring to the 3 ringer with the Profit Sharing Payment - congratulation!

That would be "Effect," for all of you, above. ;)

Regarding returning:
Doesn't the contract state that, once off the seniority list, you have to start at the bottom?

I don't think it says that - do you have a reference? You may want to see if the MEC is willing to address this as it's likely to come about at some point.
