"We modify our aircraft order book"

Buffet invested in airlines this week, UAL included, you can bet there will be some "unlocked shareholder value" in Q4.

Interesting how one can defer aircraft orders for liquidity reasons et al but buybacks are cast in stone.

Regardless of the aircraft deferral, this muddies the water with respect to the RJ issue.
This move does not make sense as a stand alone. Everyone is speculating on another RJ order which is not in evidence.
The economic reason the 737-700's were ordered in the first place stands. The RJ's are bleeding money, and by deferring the 737's for the Max's, which I think is a good move BTW, still leaves us bleeding the RJ conundrum. Scope choke is already here, so something smells rotten.
Hence the new guy's love of RJ's? He will bleed today's dollars in capital expenditures at the expense of even near future revenue? The only way that makes sense is a stock buy back where they need immediate cash, which screws us and the operation.
This could be a good move, but the way it was announced does not make any sense, and mortgages our future. There's something afoot, "Long live the RJ!"
Given the management's recent history, this is not a good move. Think longer than next summer.

I found it interesting that during the 3rd quarter conference call Kirby made a comment about "scope maximum". I think this move is more about bringing a SNB so they can take advantage of our scope.
Just a guess on my part.
Time will tell as always as a guy who has been here three years I just hope we keep hiring!

Where was this? I didn't see any specific reference to what type of plane, other than the general "we're keeping an eye on the new and used a/c market." Which they been saying for over a year now.
