Jan7 Class

A little over 1 year, however I was called in June and offered a class in August but couldn’t take it because of a job I was on overseas. I called them back when I got sorted out and they put me back in the pool. I am so happy with this since it is absolutely perfect timing.

Unless you are at Qatar Airways, which restricts your country departure, ALWAYS take first available!!! Timing isn’t always perfect, if potential folk is expecting “perfect” scenario/placement then roll the dice and see what happens. With our pilot group size of 2,950 or so, anyone junior to 2,600 cannot remotely become comfortable yet.

Unfortunately you will regret it big time, timing means a great deal in aviation!! A few months in 2007 meant furlough or not. I’ve been around a few guys that were at foreign/middle east carriers when they got UPS/Fedex/Legacy FJO, none chose to defer/bypass. This is a cut throat industry, you NEVER voluntarily choose to give up seniority especially if it’s your “dream” job!!

UPS prefers the honorable chap that lives up to their commitments rather than perhaps, one who would walk out on a job leaving a flight uncovered... just saying.

This is a funny statement, making presumptions of UPS which are not there. UPS is one of the few employers that doesn’t require a letter of resignation from your previous employer, and from my personal, direct experience, seeing it myself, I don’t think they care at all what you do as long as you show up for class. This doing the right thing by your previous employer (when it comes to UPS) is simply a fantasy. It doesn’t make them a bad employer, not by far, just saying some have this misconception about UPS.
