Good answer. While many of us have been amazed at the never seen before hiring opportunities starting several years prior to the viral debacle, it still remains a conundrum currently as many have been thru/witnessed/seen from the outside how volatile this industry is. Record number of folks flying, virus, zero flying, early retirements, furlough potential, carriers saved, cargo maxed out+hiring, flyers return, record hiring for carriers, economy(?), massive seniority list movement, cargo slowing, cargo slows/stops hiring, record pax contract with others following likely, increased cargo outsourcing/ground push, cargo bases cut, numerous contract negotiations, world politics/tensions, did I say economy(?)… Amazing when you look at it from a 50,000ft level.

*Once again Good Answer. Nothing more dangerous than a person with options. Tough decision to make and hopefully you find the best one that fits your priorities.

Just curious and I appreciate the honesty. I just watched someone apply to two majors and get through the first level screenings and offered an interview within a total time of 3 weeks. Crazy out there and certainly nothing my generation was exposed to, having a choice between carriers like that. DL got what looks to be a great deal, I'm sure the others will match it and meanwhile, all indications are that UPS isn't happy with our deal much less interested in giving us that level of improvement to paycheck or qol. Frankly, I don't know why anyone would wait around for brown or purple, it may never happen and leaving UAL or the widget for the other side of the airport is always a possibility later.

My impression is that if we made minimum wage the company would see us as an overpaid cost center. That said, I do think the company will pay market rate wages. The devil is generally in everything else. Work rules will be a struggle when the company can take any proposal we make, code it into a copy of the optimizer, run a few bid periods, and know exactly how they can circumvent it. They then come to the table and try to get something they want in exchange for a QOL “gain” they’ve already figured out how to destroy in execution.

In other words, I think the next negotiation will be tough. Tougher than previous rounds? Only time will tell.

I see it completely different. This pilot has made slow, lasting improvements in the last couple CBA’s that the one article that needs the most attention is scheduling. We will use most of our negotiating capital to improve this section. We do not need to make drastic changes in most other sections. IF, and that is a big if we can make significant improvements in scheduling, we will have a truly industry leading contract. Night flying will always be part of this job, but many issue need to be addressed.

More of a trip rig person myself, I can't think of the last time I was paid by duty rig, but I'm of the same school as you.

Have not heard that rumor, but can’t imagine hiring when we are offering RDG and Short term leave.
