As an outsider it's good to read your perspectives on UPS dynamics with management. At Delta they try to sell the whole "we're one big family" corporate message, but most pilots I interact with don't buy it. Does your leadership try those tactics as well? Reading your messages it feels pretty much like any other airline I've flown. For Delta at least it seems like the rejected TA in 2015, the schedule optimization prior to COVID and prolonged post COVID Section 6 negotiations have marked turning points for many among our pilot group.

I haven’t heard management try to sell the whole “were family” mantra like Delta but there seems to be a push towards “we’re a softer gentler UPS”. Might be because we’re going into negotiations or they might be serious, who knows. UPS is big on labor and having that line drawn in the sand as far as being union or management so it makes it pretty clear on where you stand.

I worked for a wholly owned Delta regional and it was the same way with “we’re family”. There were things management did there that showed their appreciation vs. here at UPS, but ultimately I knew if things got tough being “family” wouldn’t mean much. IMO the whole “We’re family” thing at Delta keeps the company cheerleaders pumped up and keeps most of the work groups from being unionized.

I responded to this and about toxicity at Brown in this thread to keep things organized for people searching for info.

Is UPS Cargo much better QOL than PAx?

It should be within two weeks, but anecdotal reports suggest that may vary.
