UPS Interview

Crazy Canuck,
Are you enrolled as an undergrad, or are you pursuing a Masters degree or higher? I'd say if your still an undergrad, don't expect a call till you have a degree. If your pursuing a higher degree I would highlight that on your resume and application.

I'm doing my undergrad. Of course I don't expect anything until I graduate in a year from now. But my mindset has always been "apply apply."
On that note my resume is pretty clear that I'm in progress as is my application. Thanks for the input!

And that's what I tend to agree with as well but I figured I'd ask since the impression I got from the application is that the question was asking if I was attending classes at a brick and mortar institution, which I am not.

Crazy Canuck, I applaud your determination, and yes I would definitely let them know your still enrolled in College with an expected graduation date. Just curious, how much TT and PIC time do you have?

Thanks for the words. 3850 TT, 1001 TPIC. Currently flying the 767 over in the ACMI world. Not getting too many hours though unfortunately!

In regards to the hiring pool. I received a call from UPS to continue the hiring process at the end of March. I was told UPS is not actively hiring, but increasing the pool in which they are planning to hire from. I took the Hogan assessment 3 days later and have had radio silence ever since (approx. 4 weeks). Is this standard?

My understanding of this StUPid process is that you could be in the bottom half of the pool based on your experience, color of your hair, whatever. Now they hire a whopping 6 people and draw down the pool, so eventually they will get to you right?
Nope. Now if they replace those few unlucky souls with people that, in their eyes, are more qualified, and they may NEVER get to you. They will just keep replenishing the pool while you sit there and wait, and wait, and wait.
Like so many others have posted, until you live it, you won't believe it. If you have other options, exercise them, waiting on this place is not worth your time or stress.
Carry on......

First year pay deserves some serious consideration. Competitive pool is what it is. No growth in air district but not contracting either; company is expanding on ground side in U.S. and SCS/logistics everywhere. Didn't Abney say no $$ to air district for a couple of years when he took over..? Take note: global shipping is down, Amazon is taking on some of their own volume: neither is good for express air freight in general. Either way, I'd take the interview and sit on a pool letter in case nothing good comes along. Worst case: take a class date, get a type rating or two and fly with a bunch of truly great people (IPA guys and gals) while waiting for your first choice to call.
