All of the '88 guys will have 30 yrs of ups service by October 2017. After that, they don't accrue any more credit for retirement...this may be a factor as well for some.

FTFF!
You hit the nail on the head. In the past the senior pilots enjoyed nice schedules, 3 day Hono trips 3 times a month, some flew in and out of their home towns and never slept in a hotel bed. Those days are gone. Over the past few years all the schedules have deteriorated to the point where all seniority gets you is the days off you want..so I do believe that a lot of guys will leave, especially in light of the A-plan bump...

Hey guys, sorry if there is a more appropriate thread, but I didn't want to start a whole new discussion for one question. My question is concerning U.S. Mail. Do you guys fly it? I know FedEx does not allow applicants from foreign carriers for five years when flying U.S. Mail. Does UPS have similar restrictions? Thanks for the heads up.

Yes.

I think at least a couple in the last 3 years flew for Asian carriers prior to being hired; not sure what their basing situation was like.

When ANC opened up as a new domicile all new-hires received override pay for the first 12 months. Can't remember the amount but I wanna say an extra $1,000 or maybe even $1,500 a month? Maybe someone here remembers? The LOA has since expired and there are no overrides anymore..

I think we'll be seeing new-hires in ANC within the next 12 months..

"..UPS has informed the IPA that they will need additional IPA simulator and IOE instructors on the 747, A300, and 757/767 fleets, and IOE instructors on the MD-11.."

Brownie is right. Not a requirement here.

Fdx got 99% of the USPS mail contract so they have to follow government's residency rules (which are pretty ridiculous to begin with).
..and yes, Atlanta negotiated a postal contract too! For the ginormous US territory of Guam...
You're good to go!

A fair bit of US mail is hauled in the 2DA system domestically, too.

It was $1,500/every 28 days until your 1 year anniversary date, beginning AFTER you completed your move with Cartus to the ANC domicile. So if you moved in your 11th month of probation, you got a grand total of $1,500. It was a big draw to move for a small few, because your bank deposit increased from about $1,000/2 wks to over $1,650/2 wks (flying international heavies).
