5-10K (rumored) applicants with only 300ish seats to fill this year is tough odds for anyone.

It is demoralizing at times, but if it's where you want to be, it will be worth the wait.

Agree except for the "wait" part. I'd say it's worth doing everything a person can to meet the recruiters in person. They have thousands of applicants and the competition right now are current Emirates, Atlas and heavy lift operators in the military.

Unless you know someone or fill a specific criteria they might be looking for "..Haven't been able to attend any job fairs.." probably won't do. Sure, there's always a chance but...
Got three friends hired in the last year and a half, all three went to job fairs. Wish everyone luck.

Pink dog,
I've heard versions of that "10,000 applicants for 300 slots" since 1993 (pick your airline). If it helps, somebody once told me that of those 10,000 apps about 1000 of them are truly competitive, so that should help the odds a lot.
Good Luck.

Good Luck.
I'd also bet that the 7 majors with 10K applications each only equals about 15K different pilots, not 70K

Sure, I've also heard similar stories in the past..
However, they really do have a ton of very well qualified applicants. Several months ago I went to HR to push for another friend of mine. I saw a stacks of files being reviewed and in the words of MK these were the guys/gals my friend was competing against. There seems to be an exodus going on from airlines such as Emirates, Cathay, Korean, ANA, Skymark, Flydubai, etc.. Many of these pilots are current and qualified on similar jets and routes we fly on a daily basis. I'd say the competition is quite real..

I received a call while I was flying last week from a Mark K in UPS flight ops HR. Have been trying for the last week to get back ahold of him regarding setting up an interview. Does anyone know a good HR email or number other then the one he gave me that goes straight to a message. Thanks in advance.

I know four recent new hires. All had WELL north of 10,000 hours. All had 5,000+ TPIC. All had significant heavy international time. One was a Lt. Col. who also had tons of C-17 time.
Yeah, the competition is very real.

Yeah, the competition is very real.
But we have recently hired previous RJ pilots hired into management giving checkrides on the 74 and MD.
