Other airlines have their share of washouts as well, UPS isn't the only one. Two Delta buddies hired in the last 18 months each had one and two wash out of class somewhere along the training process. Another buddy at FedEx also had a washout in his class. Some people just can't get through and some expect it to be handed to them, and ultimately they're let go- it's inclusive of all airlines.

Yet UPS still requires THOUSANDS of hours of TPIC.
Great company and would love the opportunity, but after talking with them at OBAP, they are probably the toughest nut to crack.
A recruiter told me they are averaging new hires with 3000TPIC and those with less than 2000 aren't competitive.
Also looking for heavy time, advanced education, and positive airline roles (i.e. Positions that make the airline better).
Considering how many Atlas captains they probably have on file, it will be a while before they lower their min quals.

The point I was originally going towards was that they hire extremely skilled/experienced pilots, yet still have a decent number of guys washing out.
It's surprising considering other airlines do not hire with such a high requirement.
It's funny considering the "pilot shortage".
It's interesting that they can still have such high mins.
It has nothing to do with my application.
I was providing information about UPS hiring... like the title of the thread.
I enjoyed my time with the recruiter who was helpful and honest and personally hired three of my coworkers recently. I'll keep updating with each additional TPIC hour I get with the hopes of one day getting the chance.

Haha, I think luck is the name of the game. He couldn't provide any go-to way of getting hired other than thousands of hours of PIC, heavy time, and the importance of face-to-face at job fairs. I've got 2 out of 3...
They can still be very picky.
