I mean it's the 757 and 767, it's fun. Your schedule is going to suck but I just came off the 88 at year 6, my schedule imho sucked. It would've netted me Christmas day off in the midst of 9 days on and I'd been the last one to hold it as far as I could tell. And I could barely score a GS, there are 500+ FOs snatching that stuff up before it gets to a junior FO, unless at the end of the month you have a weekend off for some dumb reason and decide to fly a GS for a few hours of pay.

If you're in ATL, they're ALL senior, you'll fly weekends and holidays no matter what. Go for the ER and enjoy it while it lasts.

Not only is it oversized, it's a Gulf Air.

My one regret is not bidding the NYC 7ER while the getting was still good up there on all the boutique flying!
Yeah I did the 7ER NYC then ATL and really enjoyed my time, I was displaced 1 year into it and then I guess couldn't hold ATL 7ER again until this year which is 5 years later.

Go for it. Especially if you've never gotten to go overseas. I can remember when they called for TOE and the night before thinking I'm going to fly over the Atlantic tomorrow?! Man what a blast. But I have a blast doing the 88 and 717 too.

Besides, new hires on the ER won't be very far behind at all from guys at my seniority. All will be junior and they're still going. Now if you're a commuter, may I say... DTW. That's where I'd go. But let me graph it later and see if that's really a correct assumption. I'm wonder if you're at 97%, where is the best place to go.

Anyone have info about MSP as a pilot base? I know they have MD-88s, A320s and 76ERs, and that it's fairly senior but wondering if anyone - perhaps an MSP-based pilot - has thoughts on how long it could take an MD-88 or A320 new hire to get based up there. I also heard a rumor that that a 73NG pilot base may open up there in a couple of years. Thanks!

Change the types of planes and I'll ask the same questions about Salt Lake City...

The MSP 'plug' (most junior pilot in category) is 330 pilots from the bottom of the seniority list.

The SLC 'plug' is 658 pilots from the bottom.

(Both numbers include the Jan. '14 new-hire pilots.)

If we hire at the fervor of the rumors on this forum, I'd assume you could hold MSP by approx. your one-year anniversary with the company, & SLC prior to your 2nd year anniversary.

All disclaimers apply: DYODD, YMMV, past performance isn't indicative of future returns...

If they hire like the rumors are saying, we could have 6yr. Captains again.

But 5 years from now we could be in bankruptcy again too, so we've got that going for us...
