Well that's certainly a good question. 5-10 years ago that was certainly the case. Heck, even two year ago. Mainline loved to whipsaw and shop around for cheaper lift. Now with regionals struggling to find quality pilots they can't really do that without disrupting their service. Remember it's still their name on the side of the airplane. Now it seems the trend is to bring that flying back to mainline and their wholly owned where they can control their product and the pay. Seems that the bonuses they're offering will attract the pilots they need, and which non wholly owned can compete with that. Sooner or later the regional flying will begin to dry up for the non wholly owned carriers, in my humble opinion.

Low cost plus cheap profits equal win win.
Envoy used to do 90% of the AA lift, before AMR decided to diversify the feed.

Now AAG decided it was not the way to go. PSA/PDT/ENY should be doing 90-95% of the feed, but they are too late for that.

Clearly they want to take the senior CAs to AA because is cheaper, that's why PSA flow will take a bit longer, until PDT/ENY can get about the same amount of longevity on the new pilots.

Unfortunately for them, the top 300 Envoy pilots will not let go of their deathgrip on this place and will never leave until dead, fired or retired for some strange reason. As bad as they make it and as many bases as they close, they still won't leave to AA. Ever. Even when some of the (244) had the chance to go at 2nd/3rd year pay or whatever it was a few years ago. They still refused. Now many of them are 50 year olds commuting for a regional.

Seems kind of crazy when you think about it from a financial aspect. If you have 10+ years of your career left and your qol won't take a massive hit, it seems like a no-brainer. Although money isn't everything. It would be hard to leave a situation where I was making 6 figures, living in base with my choice of trips and days off. The bigger picture to me though is that NOTHING is ever guaranteed in this regional rat race industry. Get in, get out. There are certainly some lifers here at PSA, but not as many as you may think. I've seen several of the ones who have been here a very long time decide to bail.

If you think about it, those same 300 guys are saving AAG butt. They won't leave anywhere. That's 30 planes right there staffed.

That's NOT the question you should be asking.

And now per usual, the usual idiots have converted a thread not even remotely related to Envoy to the same discussion found on every other thread. Don't you guys have Eagle Lounge too? Do you guys do anything useful with your free time?

Screw 5 years. We need to shut this down pronto. Only way we protect..Why can't all regional pilots go on strike and throw a major effing curve ball to ALPA & Mismanagement? Isn't it worth a try? Corrupt mothafukas

Alpa is an association, every airline is a separate union. If Alpa was a true union, we would have global seniority numbers, and be able to move from shop to shop or airline to airline. Works great for electricians, welders, plumbers, etc... Aviation not so much...
Asking the regionals to do this would be equivalent to asking China, Russia, Iran, and USA to have a drum circle and sing Kum By Yah... Yeh right...
